NYT Reporting Friday, Sources Say: U.S. Posting of Iraq Nuke Docs on Web Could Have Helped Iran
Drudge Report ^ | November 2, 2006

Federal government set up Web site -- Operation Iraqi Freedom Document Portal -- to make public a vast archive of Iraqi documents captured during the war; detailed accounts of Iraq's secret nuclear research; a 'basic guide to building an atom bomb'... Officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency fear the information could help Iran develop nuclear arms... contain charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building that the nuclear experts say go beyond what is available elsewhere on the Internet and in other public forums...

Website now shut... Developing...

The British developer of the world wide web says he is worried about the way it could be used to spread misinformation and "undemocratic forces".

The web has transformed the way many people work, play and do business.

But Sir Tim Berners-Lee told BBC News he feared that, if the way the internet is used is left to develop unchecked, "bad things" could happen.

"detailed accounts of Iraq's secret nuclear research; a 'basic guide to building an atom bomb'... Officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency fear the information could help Iran develop nuclear arms..."

Apparently Iraq had a secret nuclear research, despite what CIA and Wilson said. Wonder if they will mention jveritas and FR.

How did Karl Rove convince them to run this hit piece? Rove You Magnificient Bastard !

"Website now shut... Developing... "

A while ago there was a suggestion on FR to download the DoD documents on local servers, just in case they shut down the site, anybody knows the status of the project, if it ever got off the ground?

I tried searching the archives and couldn't find the articles - from 2003 I believe - about how the IAEA was ticked off at the US for removing all of the nuclear weapons materials from Iraq and hiding them away in US storage facilities.

Okay, this will hurt Republican candidates how?

If Saddam had such hot nuke tech, then it bolsters the need for the invasion, i.e. Bush was right!

So Iran wouldn't be a concern except for the documents found in Iraq and posted on the web. Is that the NYT's position? Because it's ludicrous.

Especially after the Clinton administration gave Iran the plans for the W-88 warhead fusing.

Are these the same clowns who said Iraq didn't have any WMDs?

One of two things: we are being set up for something nasty; or the Wilsons will have to lower the $1.995 MM asking price for their home to slink out of DC.

They are telling us now that Bush's lies are the truth and that the truth may give Iran the bomb and get us all killed and he sucks?

Ladies and Gentlemen, we see the collapse of the New York Times. Moving into a beautiful (?) new Skyscraper on 7th avenue (isn't that appropriate - Think of the line from that great Simon and Garfunkel song, won't you...) Lie la Lie, Lie la la la la la la la Lie la Lie....

Hey Pinch, I never buy your stupid paper.

Holy crap! the NYT does not realize how badly they have just stepped in it. One can conclude three things from this. 1) Iraq was much further along in their nuke program than was reported if it had plans that would be beneficial to Iran. 2)If the inadvertent releasing of information that helps our enemies is so bad, then how can the purposeful releasing of classified information that helps our enemies, (ie. NSA, SWIFT, etc.) be a good thing?Sloppiness is one thing, treason is quite another. 3) The IAEA is useless, and with NK and Iran running to the bomb, we can once again conclude that we cannot rest on the U.N. This is going to bite them in in the butt!

Exactly. They NYT has ignored the Iraqi documents, some of them quite damning, for so long now....and we're supposed to be outraged that the same country which wasn't a threat to anyone had detailed plans on building nuclear weapons? Plans the leftist media denied they ever had?

The NYT can't have it both ways.

You might want to check with jveritas. He's been doing a tremendous job of translating.

Let me get this straight.

Bush never should have invaded Iraq because Saddam had no WMDs nor any plans for same.

Bush never should have posted the Iraqi nuclear plans on the internet because it helped the Iranian get WMDs.

Is that about it?

PINCH:
I have a great idea! You know those documents the military captured in Iraq and posted on the web to support their case for war? Let's make a story out of the possibility those documents are helping Iran build their bomb!

UNDERLING:
Umm...Mr. Sulzberger...if we do that...

PINCH:
You Worm! What are you saying? I don't pay your salary to have you disagree with me!

UNDERLING:
But Mr. Sulzberger, if we do that...we have to go against the talking points and style book, which require us to say that Saddam never had WMD and never pursued them...

PINCH:
That's it! Sack him. And get me a double mocha latte.

Imagine if Bush had kept these documents secret for 3 years and then announced today for the very first time that these documents existed and proved that Saddam had a WMD program. The NYT would be screaming bloody murder about the "October Surprise" and about the administration callously sitting on these documents for political purposes while our troops were dying.
