TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- An explosive device has gone off at Foothills Mall on Tucsons northwest side this evening.
Authorities with Northwest Fire and the Pima County Sheriffs Department tell KMSB-TV it exploded shortly after six p.m. in a trash can outside the Barnes and Noble bookstore.
One eyewitness described it as an "acid bomb" but there was no immediate confirmation of exactly what type of explosive.
A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriffs Department said it was "some sort of an acid-type device which did explode."
The bookstore has been evacuated and the southeast corner of the parking area at the mall cordoned off.
There are no initial reports of injuries.
