A source close to Kerry tells NBC News that he was trying to make a "tough and honest joke" about Bush and that in the process he omitted two words which changed the intended meaning. Per the source, Kerry meant to say that he can't "overstress the importance of a great education" and that "if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy... You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq." Kerry mistakenly dropped the "getting us" from his initial remarks.

Then he is even more of a buffoon for not apologizing and correcting his remarks.

If that had been true, the awful press release he sent out before the presser, should have said so,but it did not. It was in fact a juvenile defense of Kerry and an attack on Snow, Cheney Rush and Bush.

Kerry never makes mistakes. He always says, Let me make this crystal Clear, or perfectly clear. He did make perfectly clear what he was saying, and it wasn't what he spun today.

WOW, how disappointing...just heard Fox news radio and they played only the kerry quotes that sounded favorable to him! Not one peep about the clip sound bite from yesterday. Made him sound remorseful and bashing W! One reason I have given up on FOX NEWS lately! :( The mediWHORES aren't reporting what we heard first hand from the Snake's mouth. They think WE are the ones STUCK ON STUPID...ughh!

All Kerry had to do was say that, apologize to the troops for accidentally insulting them, and he would have been fine. The fact that he didn't do those simple, sensible things says that he said exactly what he meant to say.
