Ive interviewed Michael J. Fox several times before but never quite like this.
After all the controversy and publicity and debate about his political ad, and the criticism he got from people like Rush Limbaugh, he really is in the eye of a political storm right now. But when he came to our studio for our exclusive interview, he was remarkably calm. He was also obviously symptomatic. He trembled uncontrollably, and his legs shook, but he explained it was actually a side effect of not taking enough medication. He told me he reduced his dosage because he didnt want to have dyskinesia, which is the side effect of too much medication, and which causes the swaying back and forth that was so evident in the controversial ad for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill. Fox said that he can never tell from one day to the next how serious his symptoms will be. Its a crapshoot.

Gosh, the PR photo of Couric and Fox on the CBS website just makes to wanna hurl. How could she possibly challenge the guy who she's posing for publicity photos with him???
So did he NOT TAKE ENOUGH of his meds to make himself appear worse than what he really is all in the name of stem cell research?
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
No he claims that he took too much. Both too little and too much produce a similar lack of muscle control.
Please don't flame me but I view his actions as suspicious in light of the fact that he did not take enough meds and the fact that he is an actor and promoting stem cell research.
I can't say one way or the other, but what I CAN assert, unequivocally, is that the ad WAS TAPED and NOT live. Thus, if Fox was having an attack or a reaction from not enough/too much medication, he/they could have easily postponed taping until such time as he had resumed control.
CASE CLOSED!!!!!
Okay, I am speechless.
Excuse me. You are as ill as you are...meds make it better. He didn't appear worse, he appeared the way his disease make him appear. I just can't believe the viciousness of FR about Fox. He is a very sick man, and to minimize that is so completely beneath us. Why shouldn't he show people what Parkinson's looks like.
Let me ask you something personally. Do you get upset when people stand in front of abortion clinics showing people what abortions look like?
I would have to say this was planned.
Even more despicable is using another person with a medical condition to win a political election.
This is not about his disease. It is about how he comes across to the general public.
He wants so badly this stem cell research and in order to achieve it, he wants babies murdered in order to research.
Personally, how many people do you know that get up in front of a camera and flaunt a disease so badly and ask that babies be killed?
I don't and never would.
What Rush said was true. MJF was acting AND he was off of his medication -- by his own admission.
Rush was right on target - AGAIN.
The more that they want to enrage the Republican base, the better. I mean, I was wondering why CBS or some other outlet hadn't had a MJF puff piece, i.e. "see how this poor man has been victimized by the Republicans, why, you can't dare criticize him, he is a (human shield)."
I hate to sound like a broken record, but he is promoting embryonic stem cell research.....everyone is in favor of stem cell research, it is adult stem cells that are ok and do not harm the unborn.
CBS's ratings are in the tank and they think the rest of their viewers are dimwits.
I'm watching...how can you not be heartbroken.
How would we ever know if they were adult cells or those from an infant?
Because the implication is that without embryonic stem cell research, he looks like that all the time, when in reality he is much closer to "normal" when he takes his meds. The problem we have is not with the symptoms of Parkinsons, its the deception MJF uses both in his appearance and his words in order to push an agenda.
There is no deception in abortion pictures. What you see is what you get, and no amount of medication makes murdered babies look/feel better or worse.
I'll go one up and state that the MSM media that is promoting this despicable attempt to win an election should be ________ fill in the blank!
Just because he takes medication, does not mean he's not seriously ill or won't die sooner because of it. There's NOTHING wrong with what he did. The meds he takes to appear more normal, have other side effects that are horrible. I just don't see why it's unfair for him to do this. It's reality...and our side would do it to if it it suited our needs. Just disagree with him, don't attack his illness. THAT is real.
--embryonic stem cells cause tumors in animals when they attempt to use them and presumably will in humans. NO one is using them in humans. We can all donate adult stem cells for research. My friend provided her own for her bone marrow transplant, it is quite common.
