Jefferson City, MO (LifeNews.com) -- A new poll shows that support for Amendment 2, the Missouri measure that would have the state support human cloning and embryonic stem cell research, is dropping fast. The level of support has dropped from more than a 2-1 margin to less than 10 percent. According to a new Survey USA poll released Tuesday, just 45 percent of Missouri voters say they plan to vote for Amendment 2 while 36 percent will vote against it and another 18 percent are undecided.
That's a huge difference from the last survey the polling firm did just two weeks ago.
On October 12, Survey USA had Amendment 2 ahead by a 57-27 percent margin with 16 percent undecided.
No publicly released poll by any nationally recognized polling firm has ever had support for Amendment 2 below 52%, and it has been as high as 64% in favor in a January 2006 Research 2000 poll conducted for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KMOV-TV, and a similar 62% in favor in a June 2006 Research 2000 poll.
The new results show that pro-life advocates have a chance to knock off what many worry would be a harbinger of things to come across the nation as other states look to replicate Missouri's support for the grisly practices.
The latest poll found men favoring the human cloning initiative by a 45-39 percent margin and women backing it 46-34.
Missouri residents in the 35-49 age category oppose it while other age-ranges favored the initiative, but the poll is the first to show any age category opposing the measure.
The poll also finds white and black residents split along the same lines, Republicans slightly opposing it while Democrats more strongly favor the measure, and supporters of pro-life Sen. Jim Talent oppose the human cloning proposal while backers of pro-abortion candidate Claire McCaskill favor it.
Missourians in the central part of the state oppose the measure while Ozark residents are split and Kansas City and St. Louis residents slightly favor it...

I don't give a shi-ite what he is grasping for as long as it isn't my wallet....before he contracted this disease...he never said sqaut...now that he is sick...he is an advocate...just like all hollywood types with their pet causes....they advocate with US taxpayers money...how much has he ponied up???? let private enterprise go after this research if they feel it is something that is worth pursuing ...why should the govt. fund a wing & prayer? ....otherwise...this will just be one of every disease the US taxpayer will have to pay the cost of research!!!!
I'm a Missourian and this CAN be a pretty dumb state.
Activism and voter turnout is vital on election day but prayers sure won't hurt.

Then they have the nerve to demand the regular taxpayer, who can't afford to buy themselves tax loopholes, pay for "government funded" research.

Look, the medical term "therapeutic cloning" has been used as a *syononym* for embryonic stem-cell manipulation for research.... *SO*, to say you are "for stem-cell research" but "against cloning" is an oxymoron!
This is a bill that creates legal forms of cloning while claiming to make other forms illegal (but acc. to right-to-liers has many loopholes). RTL comment:
"Phony cloning “ban”: Because of the definition of “clone or attempt to clone a human being” in section 6(2) of the Initiative, it is not the process of cloning that is prohibited, but the process of implanting. It would not be illegal to create a clone; it would only be illegal to keep a clone alive by allowing him or her to be implanted in a mother’s womb."
In other words, cloning is allowed for harvesting of human cells/organisms outside the womb. It's okay because it's for 'science', bioethics be damned.

It says it bans cloning, then ok's the technical name for cloning, calling the end product a blastocyte or some such thing.
It is purposely misleading.
In fact, when supporters were getting the petition signed to put this measure on the ballot, the approached people with , "do you want to sign a petition against cloning".
This is a sick bunch.

I think it's the latter. You know, he does come from Canada, the land of Socialized Medicine... IMO money is spent much more efficiently when it comes from private business and private donations, and not out of our tax dollars. Socialists don't seem to understand that simple concept.
It is a cloning Prop. And Fox simply got his facts wrong as Dems often do. I pray the ad backfires and elects Talent, Steele, and Kennedy of Minn.

It's not "unbelievable". It's in answer to prayer. Keep praying Missourians, our God is the God of the impossible.
The bishop has made a video which is being shown at mass for all us catholics. It explains the amendment and encourages us to vote NO.
Bad news is that we're a minority in the state (at least southern part). I wonder what the baptist's stance on this happens to be?
Guess those ridgerunners out in the Ozarks are getting tired of their sisters or something.
