Most people I'm in touch with (Marines)are fighting the good fight, not the fight everyone (Congress, Arm Chair Generals) wants them to fight. If the Generals run the war the way they want (Not what freaking Congress or the Demorats want) and the ground troops do as they are trained to do this war will be won. Remember a B(^*&hing Marine is a content Marine. Like it or not we have rules for war.

The point is not whether YOU care about the elections. The point is that the bad guys in Iraq are paying attention and understand that people (like some here) are going to go into full hand wringing mode over things like this and hopefully will vote for the party they believe will hand them a victory.

Bingo! You have hit the proverbial nail...
I'm watching O'Reilly right now and that rotten old carcass, Andy Rooney, is calling on the POTUS to get on TV and surrender to the terrorists. BO'R is now talking to some feminist know-it-all. I am weary of this war, but isn't that just too bad. I am sick unto death of the cowards and weaklings who need to shut up and sit down.
Every time some idiot like this woman starts yammering, it gives aid and comfort to our enemies.

Well said and right on the mark. Also predictable to those who watch the trends (Spain comes to mind).

One thing that will help our troops and the USA citizens is to GOTV this Nov 7 th, we can't hand the future, our troops future to the Democrats..
Our troops are counting on us to win this Nov 7 th, and they want a leader who supports them...
The energy and passion you have for the troops, you can put it in another place and GOTV and get as many people to vote as possible.

I returned from Iraq last November and admittedly things may be different now but after returning from a mission, I would tune into the MSN and was amazed about the difference in reality. I wondered if they were reporting on the same war. CNN was the worst offender about biased reporting. I feel a sense of helplessness about our captured soldier and I can only surmise the hell he is going through now. Since CNN is so tight with the terrorists maybe we could find out from them where he is. JessM

Why did you post a freepmail to me instead of posting on this thread?

This is politics.
It is no coincidence that a CNN reporter is embedded with this unit and suddenly a man is missing. This is a kidnapping for propaganda purposes pure and simple. The terrorists know that CNN is a friend and will give them all the airtime they need, knowing it will hurt Bush and Republicans in these midterms.
I sent my email to CNN, I hope you will all do the same.

This is an update on the story:
A U.S. soldier in Baghdad was reported missing late Monday, and residents said American forces sealed the central Karadah district and were conducting door-to-door searches. Other reports claimed he was an Army translator of Iraqi descent and was abducted.
A military official in Washington said the missing service member was a translator and that the initial report was he may have been abducted. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not cleared for release.

Read his post above this one. This is a concerted effort using some old plants... No Conservative would show fear like this.

We can come up with 80,000 troops. The idea we can't is ridiculous. The numbers aren't lacking, but the political and national will. The US army numbers 500,000. The US Marines number 178,000. Out of that we can come up with another 50-80K troops.

the end of the US elections cannot come soon enough.
You hit the nail on the head. It was the same way right before the '04 elections. The terrorists know that the only way they can defeat us is at home - through public opinion...just like Vietnam.

I don't know to be honest, but I have friends in Baghdad also. Things are not good there now, but they tell me they knew it was coming and they prepared as best as they could, given the Iraqis now control their own autonomy. We can't do as we did... we don't have the authority to do whatever it takes without consultation. Me thinks this is going to be part of the changes in tactics.
I do know that Conservative Patriots don't rant like rosie with pms.
