Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Is there a big third party push in PA in general? There was here about ten years ago. I run into those folks now and then, but they've pretty much just quit participating.

Vote with the Republicans, but hold their feet to the fire when they swing too far to the center.

How can you hold their feet to the fire other than by not voting for them?

Perhaps we could get enough churn with term limits to elect on principle rather than incumbency.

I am sometimes genuinely surprised at the willingness to give the government power folks as long as it is for the "correct" principles.

Everybody has an ax to grind with the GOP; one of my personal ones was that disgusting display of PANDERING that the Senate put on with that horrific "special session" about Terri Schiavo.

You know, I thought of myself as a rightwing moonbat until I started hanging out here

I know!!!!! Mindboggling, isn't it?

Frankly, after reading some of the posts on this forum, I'm real comfortable being called "mushy."

Here's a "third party" that they would probably support:

As for those Democrats who likely are to gain power, they're so bad that their return tenure will be a very brief blip -- just enough time to scare the pants off the American people and better set the stage for real conservatives and real Republicans to rise again and start setting this country straight.

Lot of truth there.

It really is. I think there are a lot of people who need to get out more.

But mushy? Can I be unflinchingly mushy? Because if I can, I could get comfortable with it. LOL.

"LOL. Well, retarded pretty much cuts to the chase."

I think the semi-retarded vote for the Demonrats. But the truly retarded stay home and gaze at their navel and tell themselves how conservative they are.

Maybe they could start their own party? OOPS...They did that, the CP gets about .002% of the vote.

Who says it's unthinking party loyalty? Are you paying attention to this thread? Republican are the only ones with stones enough to jettison their garbage in the primaries. Only then do you do the best you can with the team you made. That's right. We make our team, for better or worse.

Good morning.

I would prefer just taking the island back from the Commies.

Those who are willing to vote the Republicans out will cease to be relevant pretty quickly once the DemocRATs get in power.

On the other hand, there are some perfectly fine detention facilities on the island already.

You always post that mantra as if nobody else here holds the same principles as you do, which is why you get a lot of flack.

I don't mind so much...I'm standing up for a point of view. I will vote mostly for Republicans in November anyway, but if I do, it won't be because they're Republicans.

It'll be because I think they represent me.

We have to remember what's important. If we're part of a winning team that stands for not much of anything, what have we gained?

At this time a vote for anyone but a Republican for a major office is a vote for a DemocRAT and that is just unacceptable.

Michael Frazier

No. There are times when voting for a republican is throwing your vote away. This is the case in CT. As much as Schlesinger is a true republican and a fine candidate, much like Perot< he is unelectable in CT. If enough people vote for a lost cause, Lamont will will the senate. Every vote on the war and on the palestinian question and Israel will be far left. Lieberman is actually to the right of many rinos on the war, that is crucially important for the next few years. The war will increase in intensity over the next two years no matter who is running the US gov't, Joe Lieberman will swing more to the right as the country does and will be a republican vote for the war every time out. Lamont, on the other hand will side with soros and the far left every time. There are old time liberal democrats, and then there are leftists.
Support everything the enemy opposes, and oppose everything the enemy supports. Therefore; support Lieberman and oppose Lamont. Case closed.

You're not much of a conservative if you confuse the GOP with the conservative cause.

On all issues we stand firmly behind the grill and a little to the right of the beer cooler. We do not waver on this stand, except for bathroom breaks and to refill the beer cooler.
