I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...
I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:
A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.
....
...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?
....
Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.
Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...
It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Yes, I know he can't.
I completely agree with you there. I am sometimes genuinely surprised at the willingness to give the government power folks as long as it is for the "correct" principles.
You know, I thought of myself as a rightwing moonbat until I started hanging out here. It's cool. I get to be "moderate" and "leftist." And I haven't moved an inch.
The world just keeps on spinning. Ha!
Whenever someone starts off a sentence with the phrase "I'm a Republican, but..." your BS detector should go off.
Here's just a couple of Jim's comments:
Well, there is the Republican party with some conservative members and some not so conservative and then there's the evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat Party. I'd rather have a conservative Republican in office, but I'll take a not so conservative Republican over any evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat any day of the week. And I might express my unhappiness with some of his policies but I think I've learned my lesson about irreversibly trashing the Republican office holder or the Republican base or the party itself (at least not too much trashing). As they say, the alternative is unthinkable.
We can't do that. All WE can do is throw the REPUBLICAN bums out. And after we do that, the DEMOCRAT bums will be so deeply entrenched, we'll never get them out. Can you say wandering in a liberal/socialist wilderness for the next forty years?
People need to get a clue.
And my country deserves better than your Republican bumper-sticker aphorisms.
My "personal agenda," as you call it, happens to be very similar to the Republican Party platform...less government, less taxes, more personal responsibility and rule of law. Now how is it that I'm being selfish by expecting Republicans to pursue the very things they say they stand for?
Isn't that simple ethics?
You're not much of a conservative is you continue to blackmail the party with your vote.
Like I said she thnx you, whoevers talkin points
Perhaps we can get them little padded "Patsy" helmets to wear when they campaign.
You always post that mantra as if nobody else here holds the same principles as you do, which is why you get a lot of flack.
The difference is that the rest of us deal in the reality of what is going on at the time we have to cast our vote. It is what it is.
We try to make the best of it; a few of you seem to actually LOVE to carp.
I miss Willie. Without him how will I know when I've been laid off? :)
LOL..........and we think it's bad now........LOL.

Wait! Wait just a second. That makes no sense.
You know, I miss Willie, too. He loved trains and actually encouraged me to take my first train ride and write about it on FR.
He was our resident unappeasable for a long time; then he broke "bad" for some reason. But he was one that you could disgree with on some issues and still agree on others.
I still miss him.
Ahh...the big guns. I think, however, that with a lot of these folks just yelling "Boo!" suddenly will work very efficiently.
I look forward to November 8th and serving you a big plate of crow."
Well said Howlin. Well said! I have often wondered whether some who tag themselves with conservative names and join this site are in fact DU operatives. I don't know about this Conservative Goddess, but they are either calculating or stupid.
