I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...
I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:
A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.
....
...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?
....
Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.
Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...
It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Your whole post is well-put.
Everybody show the media, all the media liberal and conservative wrong by showing up and voting on November 7th.
Precisely!!!!
If the "blackmail" voters who have found a "base" in the GOP sit home this year (thinking that if we lose, we'll go running to them to lead the party) are really too dumb to realize that the exact opposite will happen: the GOP will finally realize what kind of "voters" they really are and will desert them and move the "mushy middle."
Then those "real, true" conservatives REALLY won't have anybody that will even CONSIDER listening to them.
They cannot figure out that if they really WERE the majority in the GOP, which they continue to claim," they'd be LEADING the party, not threatening it!
I just picked one example since I know Coburn was working on that bill. It was signed by Bush and will help reduce size of government so that we aren't paying for BRIDGES TO NOWHERE in Alaska.
After 60 years of DUmocrat dominance, I take offense to those who expect change in less than one term....vote in more conservatives in state/local/federal government and purge all the ones who support welfare or other "GIMME" programs. Burn down the big tent!
Must be a MoveOn rally in town.
However the total abandonment of our TROOPS by a non vote is IMHO completely disgraceful. The chances that Iraq will be lost increases a hundred fold, resulting in the TERRORISTS obtaining a NEW base of operation, completely destabilizing the Middle East and OBL WINS!!!
Yeah, Yeah, Thats right we'll show them Liberals... and we are justified because they will do the same thing when their Democrats turn on them right? Right? Amazing how they stick together on everything against Bush they must be right, right... sarcasm off..
Now make sure you get the good explanation out for your grandkids who will be dying in droves because of the mess that the Rats will get us in by pulling out of Iraq.... Tell your kids how their tax dollars are working to secure the new Illegal immigrant voting block that the Liberals will exploit by giving them welfare, health care and absolutely good paying jobs and finally tell your doctor oh sorry your government assigned clinician that you really think you need that test even though the government says that your don't and won't pay for it... but what do you mean the test is 100,000 dollars it is only a simple test my old insurance that I used to have before these government controls used to pay for that test... Ahem.. welcome to Hillary health care... I could go on and on but I think by now your conservative heart understands the risks so don't underestimate the opposition they will claim a mandate no matter how narrow the margin.
Meyer, I'm STILL mad about some of the stuff they have done, as I am sure you are.
But one thing I am not is stupid.
But voting in the socialists in the general election is certainly not going to cure the problem: it will just exacerbate it.
How can she run as an independent when she's against Liebermann running as an independent?
"...hasten the day of reckoning, so we can start over."
Of course the last time Democrats attained power in Congress, they held it for forty years. How much damage do you think Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, H. Clinton, Kennedy etc., etc., etc. could do if given power again for an unspecified length of time?
We are at war for the survival of Western civilization, and none of the people mentioned above will even acknowledge that fact. I, for one, want civilization to prevail.
It's straight R for me. I have children and a stake in the future of this country. The stakes are too high to play games with my vote.
You believe Joe Biden?
With the Dems back in control we can expect them to be lunier than ever. Gay rights written into the Constitution along with abortion and ban Christians from talking anywhere. Appoint only judges that make the 9th circus court of appeals look conservative. Look to European laws to interpret our Constitution or why not Russian or Chinese or any other kook views that support the left wing radical agenda. YUKKKK!!!
It is heartening to see Ivory Twoer "conservative" Colin McNichol getting the spanking on this thread.
Thank you Howlin. Once again you hit the nail on the head. Call 'em whatever you want (Buchananites, "true conservatives"....), they are there advocating non-participation every year. And they take their own advice...and remain perpetually irrelevant. The irony is, while they never vote for Republicans, they still whine and bitch when Republicans "don't listen" to them. Go figure.
This web shite has a BUSLOAD of these "I'm a Republican voter, but..." types.
They almost all signed up after Rathergate, when they realized what a force FR is.
Except for the Buchananites and Keysters and Lew Rockwells that have been here since the inception. They aren't for the GOP in any way, shape, or form.
The only people more worthless than Joe Biden are people who A. listen to him and B. actually believe him.
Looks like Colin is the one getting the spanking.
Great idea! Now if we can only let the party HAVE a primary without them squashing us!!!
Rules are for the little people, don't you know.
