If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress on Nov. 7, the result will transform the remainder of Bushs time in office and dramatically shift the balance of power in Washington. Ending a dozen years basically passed in exile, congressional Democrats would have a chance to help steer the nation again after a campaign spent mostly assailing Bushs vision rather than detailing their own.
Emboldened by victory and bitter from grievance, Democrats could use their ascendance to block Bushs agenda, force him to respond to theirs and begin a new era of aggressive oversight and investigation.
A Democratic victory, analysts in both parties said, could mean some of Bushs tax cuts would not be renewed, attempts to revive his Social Security investment plan would be doomed and efforts to further broaden national security powers in the face of civil liberties concerns would be thwarted.
Most worrisome to the White House is the subpoena power Democrats would gain with a majority in the House or Senate. For years, Republicans have been mostly deferential in scrutinizing the Bush administration, but Democrats are eager to re-examine an array of issues, such as Vice President Dick Cheneys energy task force, the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal and preparations for the Iraq war.

The fact is, is that you (and other GOP butt-kissers) are being patronizing and annoying with these "GET OUT, GET OUT, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!" posts on every thread.
OTOH the election could change nothing. Everyone is looking ahead to '08, which will be interesting since the Ds have Obama and the Rs have, uh, well, the Rs will have somebody by then, probably.
In 2008, when the GOP doesn't do the job, the same screechers and apologists for the GOP will be back telling us to vote for the worthless RINOs OR ELSE THE DEMS WILL WIN!
I agree with you but now is not the time. If the RINO's get voted out that means the Dems get voted in.
Oh, yes they can!
Won't happen. We will have rats in power for the next 40 years. How can anybody do that to our military?
It's not just about the military being under the control of rats, it's about so much more than that. Who's in power is going depend a lot on how the parties change once there is more of an influx of post-baby boomers in leadership positions and participation in the system.
Which ever party is the first to realize that we want a society that is conservative on social issues, we need to reform or get rid of social security for people who will be retiring in 40 years and get that legislation passed and signed by the president-not just give lip service about it-, and can limit excessive government spending and waste will run the country.
Whoever gets that, will have my support, regardless of party.
Paging err..Pinging KJ, we need a good GOTV rant from you ;)
OOPS left out Garden on this Pinging to previous post!
I'm very interested in the Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford. Am hoping that Republicans will take a serious look at him in the next 2 years.
Okay. Could be. I really hope it isn't McCain.
Then it looks like many Republicans are simply closet Democrats...
...since those RINO's are still around after the primaries.
Exactly. Talk Radio has been blabbing that truism for weeks now. If listeners don't get it, we will all be toast on Nov. 8.
Just how many times must a conservative hold his nose while voting before any change occurs?
Bush wasn't a good choice for candidate in 2000, but he was better than Gore. So just hold your nose and vote!
All the RINO's in 2002... Just hold your nose and vote!
2004... Bush ain't good, but anything's better than SKerry! Hold your nose and vote, dang it!
Well, now it's 2006.
What's the Republican party done to fix this problem? Jack fricking Squat, that's what!
Enough's enough, for Pete's sake. If there is a more conservative candidate on the ballot than the Republican one, then vote for 'em.
One would think that this couldn't ever be the case, since the Republican party is supposed to be the conservative party, but we all know that isn't the case anymore.

Now, of course, I'll get flamed for asking conservatives to vote for conservative candidates. Most likely someone will demand that we all vote for any liberal RINO we find. After all, we don't want to see a liberal in power, yes?
Y'all need to remember the last time the rightwing sat out in protest of the GOP: rightwingers voted for that LOOZA Perot, which ended up giving us comrade clintoon for 8 long years.
Don't be complacent and don't let these anti-American scumbag socialist freaks win!
You left out Kentucky. There is the capability to vote on the machine at the County Clerk's offices for the purposes of absentee ballots. Or, you may pursue the traditional absentee ballot method of mailing a written ballot.
Winning the lottery may transform my life! Now the odds...
You left out Kentucky.
"The moral of the story is for the Republican party.
IE - Republican's lose if they don't have a conservative candidate."
Sure...I agree. But show me where Ronald Reagan is. We won't see another Reagan in our lifetime, I will be DAMNED if I'll voluntarily sit out an election and give power back to the rats.
Over my dead body...I'll vote GOP until something better comes along. There isn't a conservative party, we all know that..I GET IT! I'm not going to let the Obamas and Hitleries and other assorted neoMARXists regain power just because I don't see a conservative candidate.
I don't care what other Freepers do...or what the trolls here are doing (pretending to be Freepers). I'm voting to save my life.
You know...
... a mass migation to the Constitution Party would net us a conservative candidate AND still keep the Democraps out of power.
