If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress on Nov. 7, the result will transform the remainder of Bushs time in office and dramatically shift the balance of power in Washington. Ending a dozen years basically passed in exile, congressional Democrats would have a chance to help steer the nation again after a campaign spent mostly assailing Bushs vision rather than detailing their own.
Emboldened by victory and bitter from grievance, Democrats could use their ascendance to block Bushs agenda, force him to respond to theirs and begin a new era of aggressive oversight and investigation.
A Democratic victory, analysts in both parties said, could mean some of Bushs tax cuts would not be renewed, attempts to revive his Social Security investment plan would be doomed and efforts to further broaden national security powers in the face of civil liberties concerns would be thwarted.
Most worrisome to the White House is the subpoena power Democrats would gain with a majority in the House or Senate. For years, Republicans have been mostly deferential in scrutinizing the Bush administration, but Democrats are eager to re-examine an array of issues, such as Vice President Dick Cheneys energy task force, the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal and preparations for the Iraq war.

Here's the same old broken record: talk about the 'Rats winning both houses. The article you posted comes from the WaPo service without any author name attached to it. Well, judging from the source and the fact that no individual is willing to put his/her name on it, I wouldn't take this a serious prognostication. In fact, even Zogby (who has a history of erring in favor of the Dems) now projects a GOP majority in the Senate of 54 seats - a net loss of one.
Well, well. The quantity and quality of publicity they constantly receive from the MSM has been extraordinary for "exiles."
More importantly, calling them "exiles" subtly implies that the Dems have some perpetual right to control of Congress that has been taken from them and they are prepared to return to their proper place. What arrogance!
If.
If.
If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped.
The democrap party would do well to remember that.
They may drown in their own salivation.
That bug-eyed, slack-jawed, botox-abusing Pelosi thinks she has the Majority sewn up, but I don't see it.
Even the disgruntled RINOs that are most likely to flee the Grand Old Party ain't too happy to see her pre-machinations regarding that position.
They'll hold their noses and vote Republican, then stand there and expect a pat on the back for it.
But the bottom line is: we will prevail.
No "ifs" to it.
"Democrats would have a chance to help steer the nation again.."
what is this 'again' stuff, their obstructions has done a good job of steering
They are writing to children. No wonder we are in trouble.
People do that too -- not many, thankfully, but it's not unheard of.
Y'all need to remember the last time the rightwing sat out in protest of the GOP: rightwingers voted for that LOOZA Perot, which ended up giving us comrade clintoon for 8 long years.
Don't be complacent and don't let these anti-American scumbag socialist freaks win!
gee...ya think?
if the lib/dems win....
1) get rid of the tax cuts
2) cut & run - welcome terrorism at home
3) start impeachment proceedings against Bush
yeah...that changes his administration!!!
"VOTE and VOTE Republican!" I agree wholeheartedly. All these communist RATS are trying to do is DESTROY AMERICA.
I agree.

Just so I have no question about where you stand.
What party will you vote for in Nov?
Or do you intend to pout and "sit this one out"?
we'll see if the republican party stratagy of blame the voter when you have nothing to offer will keep them in office a bit longer.
My prediction: the Ds won't take either house, but if they did, and if they did crazy stuff like this, in two years Rs would crush them.
It's like conservatives are a bunch of kids or something.
I for one am sick and tired of these "GET OUT AND VOTE REPUBLICAN ACROSS BROKEN GLASS!" threads and posts. We know we have to vote Republicans. Just stop nagging us about it.
