When the "Truth" becomes a "Hate" crime.

News media converged on Tan Nguyen's Garden Grove campaign office Friday expecting to hear from the Republican congressional candidate about a mailer sent out this week warning immigrants against voting in the November election.

Instead, the media horde got a front-row seat to a half-dozen agents from the state Attorney General's Office serving search warrants and combing through Nguyen's office.

Officers confiscated three computer hard drives, checked for fingerprints, leafed through files and interviewed Nguyen's attorney. Agents also searched Nguyen's Santa Ana home and a campaign worker's Anaheim home.

Despite burgeoning state and federal probes into the flier, Nguyen's attorney said Nguyen has no plans to withdraw as the Republican nominee for the 47th Congressional District race against incumbent Democrat Loretta Sanchez.

The letter in question reads as follows:

Greetings XXXX XXXX,

You are being sent this letter because you were recently registered to vote. If you are a citizen of the United States, we ask that you participate in the democratic process of voting.

You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without having a right to do so.

At the same time, you are advised that the government of the United States is installing a new computer system to verify the names of all new registered voters that vote in the October and November elections. Anti-immigration organizations can ask for information from this new computer system.

Unlike Mexico, here there is no incentive to vote. There is not a voter registration card in the United States. Therefore, it is useless and dangerous to vote in any election if you are not a citizen of the United States.

Do not listen to any politician that tells you the opposite. They are only looking out for their own interests. They only want to win elections without any regard to what happens to you.

Sincerely,

Sergio Ramirez

I read this letter and it does not sound hateful. It's telling the truth.

What the drive-by media are doing is erasing the second sentence which reads - If you are acitizen of the United States, we ask that you participate in the democratic process ofvoting. Then it becomes questionable to interpretation.

Email me if you wish to have the original Spanish copy.

or you are an immigrant,

This is where they screwed up.

It looks like a typo, but it is definitely incorrect to say that an immigrant may not vote.

HEADLINE should read:

It shouldn't say if you are an immigrant. Most immigrants who have become citizens still consider themselves an "immigrant." BUT the reaction to this is extreme. The balance is totally shifted toward protecting illegal immigrants.

You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant a non-citizen, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without having a right to do so. There, I fixed it.

You are being sent this letter because you were recently registered to vote.

This mailer seems to try and bypass the registration process.

Here lies the problem:
If the mailer was sent to a person who already registered to vote, I would have to assume they are eligible to vote and will receive a voter registration card once it is processed.

If they aren't eligible to vote, they would never receive a voter registration card when they show to vote, they will be turned away.

That in itself my be a problem after the election sorting though the bogus claims of "voter disfranchisement"

In the first statement, it says if you are a citizen, welcome and vote. Simple logic dictates that if you are a naturalized citizen, you are able to vote legally. If you went through the process, you should KNOW this. If you were somehow sleeping during classes, or missed out on the part where you were declared a citizen, and were told the benefits, you are one in a million .... literally.

I am starting to believe the libs about this country being a totalitarian state. It is not GW that is bringing this though, it is the system, and lately, it is unafraid to show its face. We have border agents going to prison for 11 & 12 years for doing their job. Marines being held in prison cells incommunicado, so as to break them for their "show trial" in the new $700,00 media center for the MSM to watch. One Dim pervert that NEVER resigned in disgrace for having sex with a 17 YO boy, is praised in his obit, while a R perv, is hounded to the gates of Hades for NOT having sex. I could go on, but too many truths at this point would muddle the message.

It is not just the old D holdovers from Clinton, the Republicans have opportunities to put their own in place. They could out these people, literally or verbally reprimand and ridicule, but they remain silent.

Why are heroes like Curt Weldon or bold candidates like Nguyen, such pariahs? Why is Jefferson protected, by a Republican President? So many questions, no answers.

This is Loretta Sanchez's district.

Loretta Sanchez (D) should be sued, after she is voted out of office, because she has failed to protect the people who live within her district. Sanchez (D) should make sure that non-citizens who are thinking of voting in her district are aware of the potential for imprisonment or fines, which can be a hardship on them and their families.

The issue of illegal aliens voting has been simmering in Washington since 1996 when Loretta Sanchez ousted Orange County California Congressman Bob Dornan. Illegally cast ballots were responsible for 80 percent of [Democrat Sanchez's] narrow margin of victory

If one picture is worth a thousand words, then the picture of Elian Gonzalez, cowering in the closet as a Clinton stormtrooper points a rifle at him in the predawn night, should be the campaign poster for this candidate. It should be the campaign poster for any American who doesn't believe that the gov't should be making up the definition of our laws to suit their purposes.

EXACTLY WHO decides what "hate speech" is? Read the letter. There is nothing hateful about it, and it is a statement on the Number One concern of voters in that district. EXACTLY WHO gets to decide that the police agencies can be used as thugs to break the law and intimidate a candidate? WHO is doing this?

I've always suspected she stole it--Bob Dornan was the representative and he's as conservative as one can be--didn't make sense then and doesn't now. She has to have had illegal votes and the whole thing must be investigated. I mean--we're giving it away aren't we? Stand up and make something happen--we have to see a GOP with the courage of being right instead of letting the dems have anything.

I agree. We need to nudge the GOP in the "right" direction.

I read this letter and it does not sound hateful. It's telling the truth.

It does not tell the truth as it is written.

Let us assume that you are an immigrant, just as I am, and you believe this man. Let us now analyze what he is writing in plain English.

"You are being sent this letter because you were recently registered to vote. If you are a citizen of the United States, we ask that you participate in the democratic process of voting."

Great! This guy wants me to vote for him. :-).

"You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal ....."

Nope. I am as "by the book" legal as you can get. :-)

"OR "

Hmmmm.....I wonder what the "or" is.

".....you are an immigrant".....,

Yep, I am an immigrant just as Andrew Carnegie was and that guy, Polybius, on Free Republic is. I'm going to work hard and make it in this country too. :-)

..........voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without having a right to do so."

What! I did not know that!

All this time, I thought that I would be able to vote once I became a citizen. Now I find out that only native-born citizens can vote in Federal elections just as only native-born citizens can become President of the United States. :-(

And, if I do vote, I can get deported! :-o

Sorry, but this idiot played fast and loose with the English language. "Immigrant" is not a synonym for "illegal alien" or a synonym for "legal resident" or "resident alien".

Sending an immigrant, such as myself, a letter that states in plain English that "You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal OR YOU ARE AN IMMIGRANT, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without having a right to do so" is not only sending a false statement but also committing voter intimidation as defined by the Voting Rights Act.

"When the "Truth" becomes a "Hate" crime."

To be expected. Truth is false, lies are truth.
The Socialists also want the Bible labeled as hate speech.
