CNN covered up abuses under Saddam Hussein to maintain their Baghdad bureau. That they have not shown the same delicacy around President Bush shows a double standard in play.

Snipers have long been a force multiplier since the Civil War. In my opinion, the Army has not focused on providing this capability to the level that it needs to for an urban conflict. 1 trained sniper with 7.62 (.308) rifle accurate to 600 yards PER SQUAD should be a standard for an Infantry unit.

Marines are also somewhat guilty of this but since they focused more on rifle marksmanship during their basic training than the Army, they are not as impacted by this oversight.

I don't watch television or read papers...my first exposure to CNN in probably 10 years came last night when I went to a friend's house, and I was just...well, enraged and disturbed by the way CNN was operating.

It was a real eyeopener for me. One thing to hear about CNN, another thing to actually see it with my own eyes.
