President Bush spent the day in

North Carolina

Traveling with the president were Press Secretary Tony Snow and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings

After arriving in Greensboro, NC, the president enjoyed a barbeque lunch at Stamey’s Restaurant, then visited nearby Waldo C. Falkener Elementary School where he spoke about the No Child Left Behind initiative.

Later, President Bush traveled a few miles further south to visit The Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC, then on to speak at a private GOP fundraiser.

Enjoy your Wednesday visit to Sanity Island

Hi, Gretchen :)

so glad you ditched that "substitute" in front of your fancy "Dose Ping"!!!

I got tired of carrying that word everywhere I went--like the Scarlett Letter :) By now everybody knows I'm a sub anyway, so to keep advertising the fact seemed pointless.

I'm glad to ditch it :)

This could have been "Picture of the Day".

It was a contender :)

Thank you, Jonny, for the tip of the hat. Very nice.

Thought you'd like that :) I tried to find a photo of Michelle Gilmore, but no luck.

Cheap trick Bill.

*******

Definitely a power trip by BOR. He is a giant! He made president Bush talk while looking up. And the optical value of video was that the camera did close-ups of the President looking up while answering questions. A view that we would not see in a natural circumstance, but only by the aid of a lens.

I bet he would not do the same to a really short politician, or even to John McCain.

Bill Orielly may be taller than GWB, but in my eyes W was still taller! IMHO

Hi Jonny. Am sending this at work to thank you so much for the ping to these photos. Even though I'm only a fan observing NASCAR from across the country in California, Adam Petty's death affected me more than Dale Earnhardt's did.

Adam was young. Just a kid, really. He had a warm, sunny personality and a hugely infectious smile. He was also a very genuine talent behind the wheel of a racecar. The work his family is doing with kids in his name and honor is wonderful.

Re: 197 others can also understand the Whew! Besides Hosts/Hostessess...

Anyone who deals with blasted HTML code understands Your magnitude of Whew!

Multiply one's HTML Code frustrations;time spent by however many pics Hosts and or Hostesses posts & however many comments one answers...That all adds to the Whew! Factor...

Very understandable indeed...((((And oh so very much apprieciated by all who get to enjoy the fruits of Your(and any other Thread(s) Hosts/Hostesses Mega Labor!!!!))))

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who saw this and was not happy about it. Like I said, if the President likes those that handle these things for him, then at the very least they deserve something in their file. If he has no feelings about them, they need to be fired. This was TOTALLY UNacceptable. They should have said NO to this when the idea was posed...and asked for the plan BEFORE it happened.

Thanks for your post about this, too, maica.

On my way out of town last Friday, I stopped at Stamey's (High Point Road) in Greensboro. BBQ was superb!

Better yet was what happened when I mentioned the President's visit. Waitresses, in yet still high excitement, brought Barbara Bare over to my table for a visit. She personally served the President BBQ. Here's what she had to say about him:

"Up until that moment, I had thought his eyes were brown (given TV), but he has the bluest blue eyes. He couldn't have been more approachable, friendly, polite, intelligent, appreciative. He's a fine looking, physically fit, vital, down-home, healthy man who doesn't look his age. And since the President's visit, the place has been hoppin' with massive amounts of diners."

"There's nothing fake about him." and

"We were all very comfortable with him. He has that way."

Barbara will never ever forget her time with President Bush, she was honored to serve him.
