Better yet was what happened when I mentioned the President's visit. Waitresses, in yet still high excitement, brought Barbara Bare over to my table for a visit. She personally served the President BBQ. Here's what she had to say about him:
"Up until that moment, I had thought his eyes were brown (given TV), but he has the bluest blue eyes. He couldn't have been more approachable, friendly, polite, intelligent, appreciative. He's a fine looking, physically fit, vital, down-home, healthy man who doesn't look his age. And since the President's visit, the place has been hoppin' with massive amounts of diners."
"There's nothing fake about him." and
"We were all very comfortable with him. He has that way."
Barbara will never ever forget her time with President Bush, she was honored to serve him.
Oh, thank you, Alia for pinging me and relaying this information. AND I'm glad that you got to eat some of that delicious Stamey BBQ!
Great post, Alia. Thank you for sharing it.
Pinging a few others who I think will enjoy it too (post #278 :)
We went to Richard Petty's on Friday night and I took that picture of Bush and Petty and had him sign it; I told him that they were my two favorite "43's".........and he just laughed. He had not seen the picture and turned around and told his wife to tell Kyle to get him one!
I think you'll enjoy this account about W's visit to a barbecue place the other day.
