[history]
John Stuart Mill once famously called the British Tories "The Stupid Party." From time to time since then, the Tory's American cousin, the Republican Party, has also earned that moniker. Now may be one of those moments. If current polls and anecdotes are to be believed, there may be a million or two conservative Republicans who are planning to not vote this November.

On that I agree, the Dems would make things worse...if they were in power. But lately, I see very little differance between the two parties. To quote a great man, Mark Twain:The Democrats would surrender with the war on terror and bring the terrorism home here.
It seems in your case that Pres. Bush is a victim of his own success in the war on terror that people have gotten complacent because of the lack of attacks on America.

Calling voters stupid is stupid, Blankley.
Having said that, I hope conservatives get their tails out to vote.

Calling voters stupid is stupid He is not calling voters stupid. He is calling people who do not vote stupid. People who do not vote are not voters. They are just stupid potential voters.

it is the height of ignorance for you to think that way.
for you to use the phrase "miserably failed" is just troll talk.
The fact is we have had enormous success.
Two supreme court justices
Ending the absurdity of terorrism is a law enforcement issue
Tax cuts
Military rehab after clinton demoralized it
your position just makes you a useful idiot for democrats and socialists.
We vote for them to kill the democrat party as a political entity. We vote for Republicans because to do otherwise is to vote FOR speaker pelosi.

They should welcome him with open arms."
Huh? I'm not the leftist liberal Democrat here.
Why don't you seek perfection within first, LiliesGrandpa, or haven't you learned that lesson yet?
Oh wait... I think you were inviting me to your socialist board, right? No thanks.

If Bush is so concerned about the War on Terror, the border issue needs to be addressed. Otherwise it's all smoke blown up our butts.

LOL...I guess you have a point!
But, I'm not a fan of Blankley's demeanor. I consider it to be arrogant and condescending...and ultimately harmful to the cause.

your position just makes you a useful idiot for democrats and socialists... And your position makes you a useful idiot for the Republicans that will tell you exactly what you want to hear...until Nov 08, 2006 when they are voted back into office. Then it'll be the same 'ole, same 'ole.
I follow the Glenn Beck credo: "Fire them all!"
(OK, let's be realistic, both parties, in fact, all politicians, are guilty of telling us what we want to hear to get us to vote).

You may want the GOP humbled, but the likely outcome is that a liberal/socialist House will pass legislation that will largely be endorsed by a liberal Senate and President Bush will sign it. I think it is a myth that Bush will find his veto pen and use it extensively. The House is the only check on so many odious proposals now. The first out of the box is likely amnesty and a quick path to citizenship for 12 to who knows how many illegals. That will ensure Democrat majorities for the foreseeable future.

Sometimes thick skulls need big sticks. Ah. The old "beat-em-into-submission" method...that's really going to make people who feel abused and abandoned by their party line up at the polls in droves...

Calling voters stupid is stupid, Blankley. Indeed - no better way to gain influence than name-calling. NOT! Almost makes me want to stay home on election day. Almost.
I suspect that there are plenty of stubborn, self-sufficient people on the right that will take a more confrontational approach when they learn that the right thinks that they're "stupid". The effect of this name-calling is likely to be the opposite of what the author might want. Or maybe not....
Having said that, I hope conservatives get their tails out to vote.
Agreed, reluctantly. There's too much at stake to let the Rats take charge. And they're more nuts now than I can remember in my lifetime.

The last people in the world any conservative should be venting at are the members of the House.
The majority in the House Republican Caucus have been leading the fight against liberals and for conservatism.
They're our stalwarts. We don't need less of 'em, we need more of 'em...lots more.

"And IMO, maybe a split legislature is a good thing...very little would get done (i.e. very few new laws would get passed)."
Many new laws would be passed. There would simply be more compromise items for Democrats in those laws.
