The CSA never sought to destroy the US government,only to secede from it.Had the South won, the US would still have existed....but somewhat smaller.

Keep in Mind that A View of The Constitution By William Rawle, It Was Lee's guide to understanding the U.S Constitution the argues that Secession was in fact right and it was the will of the states the book was legal text booked used at West Point.

My dad, a fellow FReeper, has a very high opinion of Ike. He argues that Ike made it OK to vote for a Republican in the South. Millions of men followed him to war and when he ran in 1952 it was the first time many Southerners had voted Republican.
