What Will Conservatives Do On Election Day? PREDICTION INSIDE!
South Texas Republicans Newsletter ^ | October 16, 2006 | Joe Solis

Commentary

We are all over the map this election season. Based on recent conversations, many of us are disgusted with new business taxes, toll road plans, inconsistent leadership on immigration and a general consensus that our leaders are out of touch with the grassroots.

There is a lack of faith out there. That is it. That faith is missing this year.

Yes, the economic numbers look good, but that awful feeling in your stomach won’t go away. It is worse than a bad sinus infection in South Texas.

My prediction: Conservatives will get out and vote this November but they want to take someone down. I can feel it. They want to show the elites in our party that we have the ability to take out one of our own. This prediction is based on the level of disgust people are experiencing.

Many of the devoted unpaid grassroots activists I’ve spoken to recently are astonished by the level of apathy out there. It seems like our troops are tired and fed up with the whole game.

It is my humble belief that they really want to be inspired and motivated to take action. Where is the torch they can follow?

My suggestion: Quit complaining about the officials you do not like. Get up and rally behind some of our tremendous officials and candidates out there. We have some really talented folks in this great state.

Host a small reception or hit your neighborhood with some “push cards”.

We could get wiped out if we stay home and sulk.

Yes, you can make a difference. Get up and move- NOW!!

(F.Y.I. I believe that Secretary of State Roger Williams should take a sabbatical from his non-partisan job in the next few weeks. We need a coach who can rally the troops in these crucial hours. This will never happen but it would sure be nice.)

That's all he's good for. He has put down all of the GOP since he signed up. Pathetic.

>>>My prediction: Conservatives will get out and vote this November but they want to take someone down.<<<

This conservative, and his wife, will vote a straight GOP ticket in November. Only a fool would let the continuous smear campaign of the Republicans by the media keep him from the polls.

I think Conservatives will vote in droves. We're too smart to let anger or disappointment or the MSM's spin put Congress in the hands of Dimms and give them the power to choose judges, influence the WOT and begin impeachment hearings on GWB.

HOWEVER, I am looking forward to a robust primary season in 2007/2008. That is where smart Conservatives will demand changes.

The "bots" don't take kindly to legitimate criticism, the problem is that it is increasingly difficult to defend this President on anything other than the WOT. I agree with your previous post detailing the administrations shortcomings. The name calling begins when they cannot logically refute the facts.
For what it's worth the cozying up of Bush I to Clinton is enough to make me puke, evidence the fix is in.

What's a good conservative republican to do???

It takes years for a politician to work his or her way up from local activities to state office and then to state-wide office. Very few people pay attention to the ones starting out or on the way up. As a result, the choice of who gets the nomination at the higher level has been made by just a few people.

I volunteer for party activities, and I pay attention to the people running for party delegate, town council, etc. Those are the people who will be moving up the ladder. I want to make sure those will be people I agree with, at least most of the time.

Meantime, I just vote for the most Conservative person on the ballot.

Are you going to vote Republican or are you going to let the democrats win and make the answers to your questions much worse? You have no other choice.

Vote for your Republican congressman and governor, that is what a good Republican will do.

The blame lies with Bush I violating his "no new taxes pledge", nice try though.

How about both of you hold hands and go back to DU. You joined few months ago almost at the time and you are spreading division, gloom and doom in times of elections.

The time to get rid of these RINOS are during the primaries
not just before the election.

Your FR home pages suck, both of you. You watch Lou Dobbs and Savage, and plains drifter is a former Republican. No wonder why the anger and hate. Both of you chose to be LOSERS.

What happened with Cheny's claim that "high energy prices are a sign of a failed presidency"?

Last I looked gasoline prices were approaching $2/gallon.

I saw as low as 1.97 at an Exxon in far north Texas, and am paying $2.09 for UNL reg, here in central Texas this weekend. Last weekend the gas was less in San Antonio, $2.04, IIRC, when it was $2.13 here. Oil is under $60 per barrel, again last I looked. Now that a far cry from $20, but it's also quite a bit lower than it was a few months ago.
