I wish we could squeeze Maui in this trip. we were just gonna do a week on Hawaii but then decided to do Oahu as well.

My m-i-l was born on Hawaii and wifey and sibs on
Oahu,, we haven't been back in a few years,

I enjoy checking out the volcanos as well, Haleakala was fun..

Well, you didn't drive the road up with "my dad." LOL - I was on the floorboards half the time. Only my hubby would ride shotgun.

I mostly remember all the enormous protea and different types of protea blooms, colors, sizes and so forth, at the stands along the way.

Having pretty acute acrophobia, I didn't drink in a huge amount of the scenery at the top - but I did peek. Even with my extra sweater on, it was cooooold.

On Maui the main road to the west side (Lahaina, Kaanapali) is closed. Trouble is, the only other way of access has stuff like this on it and it's barely one lane wide in places !
