On phone with parents in Maui, I'm telling them to move inland. They are on vacation...

They say the power is out where they are at, and it was the worst quake my dad was in.

Looks like there has been something, but when you click on the Hawaii map thumbnail, the bigger map it brings up has nothing recent.

6.5 on the West of Hawaii. No tsunami for the US West Coast. I don't know about near Hawaii.

Yea, I am in Hilo and felt it. It felt like the 198 Loma Prieta in California. Per the USGS is was only a 4.6 but I think that will be upped. A second one about 15 minutes later but much smaller and the USGS has it at 4.9. Go figure. We have hairline cracks in our patio and some things on shelves rattled but not a lot of damage. Went on for what seemed a long time though.

Does anyone know anything?

"In any right triangle, the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side of a right triangle opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of areas of the squares whose sides are the two legs (i.e. the two sides other than the hypotenuse)."

(did he say how big it felt? Also, if he felt it there is probably little Tsunami danger)
