I think that this is really really good news. Being able to speak and know who you're speaking to this soon after a stroke bodes very well for rehab.

In the olden days, when I first became a nurse, it was basically a hopeless situation when someone had a stroke. Nowadays there are great treatments but many depend on time, so you are right...the fact that he was at the doctor in the first place really was a huge answer to a prayer we didn't know we needed!

I'm very optimistic. He does have a long road ahead, but all signs at this point are good! The faster you start getting things back after a stroke, the better.

This malady I at least know something about. Relay to Tonkin that everything will clear up with the prescribed meds. Might take time, so don't be in a hurry to get up and active. Ease back into it.
