Father God, You are Creator of heaven and earth. We don't know what is going on right now, other than what we can see. You know everything, You've known it since before the creation of the world. We ask that You would comfort those who are affected directly by this accident and its aftermath. If there are those who are trapped, Lord, we ask for Your help in rescuing them. That's all we can do. Our words are inadequate, but Yours give life. Our best deeds are as filthy rags, but everything that You do is good and just.
And so we ask for Your hand on everyone who is addressing this now...the firefighters, the NY police, the citizens, the tenants, everyone, Lord, please bless them. Lord, please be with our President. Your Word says to pray for those who are in authority, and we ask for Your Spirit to give President Bush increased strength and wisdom in how to address this, and to deal with this.
Lord, we call out to You. We cry out to You. Please help us. And we thank You in advance for what You will do, and whether in plenty or want, in joy or sorrow, in any situation, we will bless Your name. In Christ's name, Amen.
