The Foley story has already run out of steam. There will be other "scandals" before the election, but I doubt they will have any real effect.

I think I'd like to see the GOP maintain control of the House by 1 vote. 218 to 217. Then the DUmmies will totally flip, having missed the prize by just a single seat.

Rather than lose 14 seats to create your scenario, I would rather add 14 seats to our majority. The DUmmies would still flip out and then slowly go quiet as they fall into extreme depression. In my scenario, we can have our cake and eat it too.

A 1 seat majority is not enough because there is at least one liberal judge out there waiting to overturn a GOP victory and give it to the DEMs.

Does anyone know if the Missouri ID to vote law has been reinstated at appeal?

How about the Dems win by a single seat, then in early February, one of them dies or goes to jail or goes to private business. A special election in that district places a Republican in power... Or one switches parties a la Jeffords. The Dems would go bananas.

If I remember correctly, this happened in California a few ago. The Republicans had a one-seat majority after the elections. So the Democrats sought out a liberal Republican and agreed to vote for them as the leader of the house if they would run. This person ran, all the Democrats supported this person, and because of this, the Democrats had the ruling majority, because their person won. I would not like to see this happen in the US house.

"Then the DUmmies will totally flip, having missed the prize by just a single seat."

The Dems will never allow that to happen. We are forgetting that they are not just counting on scandals but are probably ratcheting up their dead voter turnout like nothing we have ever seen.

Two reasons I say that;
1)It is the midterms and anything less than actual corpses video taped in voting booths would be brushed over by the media. This would happen in a state like PA where they think (know) they have several layers of Clinton holdover judges. Remember Philly has had several documented cases of precints with 119% voter turnout.
2)They have picked several critical states where the gov is a Democrat who would help brush it all into the trash heap of the usual dirty tricks that just get a wink and a nod from the rest of the established political machine.
PA comes to mind where Rendell is the Gov and his wife sits on the State supreme Court!
Additionally the dems control Philly politics and have a huge machine there. Pitt comes in very close to that... but not quite as bad.
Both cities have large minority voter roles, several major universities, and and entrenched union political machines that are as close to the Nazi SA as you can get with out the swastikas and brown uniforms.
Worse the Pubies are role over deal makers who may already have been bribed (pet bill approvals--or worse) or threatened with the wrath of Roundels lies and pre/post election media blasts..
So it will never go down to just one seat. I think the best we can expect is still no blow out but a 2 seat victory for the dems. Better than many expect now but not much and it will still be close enough that every vote will take on critical importance.
