LOS ANGELES Mel Gibson calls his anti-Semitic rant following his arrest for drunk driving in July "the stupid ramblings of a drunkard."
In an interview with Diane Sawyer set to air on "Good Morning America" on Thursday and Friday, Gibson says while staying sober is a struggle, he has not had a drink in 65 days.
He adds that he plans to continue making movies and working to heal himself and those he offended.
In a partial transcript of the interview released by A-B-C, Gibson says "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."
The interview with Sawyer is the first time Gibson has spoken to the media since sparking a scandal by unleashing what he later called "vitriolic and harmful words" during his arrest.
I don't hate Mel Gibson. I actually like him as an actor and as a director. Now if he would just learn how to control his tongue and think before he speaks.
I call it like I see it!
I support our goals in Iraq and our troops. Gibson is another Hollywood Bush-basher.
If you support the troops, lobby to bring them to the place where they belong:
Home.
I suggest that Mel experiences conflict between what he believes and what he can publicly say. For example, in the interview with Diane, Mel clearly felt that Israel deserved a lot of blame for the war with Lebanon, but didn't want to say that because of the flack he'd get for doing so. I feel that he just needs to say exactly what he feels and believes, and then let honest debate begin.
Because he is a jerk!
and you would like Al Queda/iran to run Iraq. Great idea, Giant Conservative!
He is turning into another Michael Moore - but he wants Pat Buchanan's love, pat being an anti-Semite and racist.
...liar....
...I meant Mel Gibson is a Liar....not you...:)
Mel gibson is a despicable person who should crawl back in his cave and bring his father and Pat Buchanan and Michael Moore with him.
You're attributing something to me that I never said, and that is false.
As to Iraq, I recommend splitting it up amongst the natives, and bringing our people home.
I actually think Iraq should probably be divided into a "confederacy" of self-governing regions - the problem is that Iran (which is already present) will move into the Shiite area and cause lots of trouble. But getting back to Gibson, he just had to shoot his mouth off on Pres. Bush to win the love of Lefty Hollyweird (and he won't get it anyway).
