I can confess I have had a few posts pulled...

There was a couple in California that hung a dummy by the neck, dressed in BDU's and combat gear from the side of their house to make some kind of anti-war statement. They had their name and town, so I just found their address and suggested someone go out there and "B*tch slap them..."

The post got pulled, ostensibly for the reason of not posting personal info (which had not occurred to me) but I think it was more for the slap comment.

I was just trying to be clever, but the mods didn't see it that way. I wanted to continue posting, so...I saw it their way!

Kind of off the subject, but what tunnel isn't "underground"? ;-P

Try the ferry boat in Marine City. Way faster than the Blue Water.

I have heard about that. I will have to try it the next time I go to Toronto.

Because we aren't a third world banana republic or a
blood soaked dictatorship.

Also, if they are drug runners, they can be interrogated
to determine for whom they work...

I do. I can't even count the times that people have called for genocide for Arabs, Muzzies or Palis.

I've hit the 'abuse' button myself and pointed out the the Admins those are the types of posts that DUer and everyone else points to and says conservatives are racists, Islamophobes, hatemongers, etc. but they stay.

I've always had a hard time keeping up with who Freepers can bash. Right now I think it's only Libs, Palis, Muzzies, French and Germans (with occasional exceptions for Norwegians and heads of states like Hugo and Fidel).

Illegals & Mexicans used to be on that list but with elections coming up, I guess that has changed (compassionate conservatism and all that).

Who keeps that "Who freepers hate list" anyway?

Since my first response was censored, I will try again.
No previous incarnations.
No, however, I do support full militarization of the border, to deal with acts of war by our neighbor to the south.
Also those who resort to name calling (i.e."newbie")really should have thicker skin when responded to in kind.

No. We are a Nation of laws whose neighboring country can't seem to keep their citizens from violating said laws. We shouldn't ever encourage ANY illegal behavior.

We can't "interrogate" terrorists we pick up off the battle feild. What in the world makes you think we'd get anything other than "Me Lawyer est Miguel Ramirez por favor" from a drug runner?

Attitudes like these are why this country is swirling the toilet bowl. No one left to stand up and make the hard choices any more.

Well...I admit it, I am NOT a adherent of the "Glass Parking Lot" theory, unfortunately, that time will eventually come (after we have a nuke go off over here somewhere) but there are a lot of people who are.

At least many Freepers are directing that towards enemies of our country...liberals seem to be directing that at US!

And I will say I was the most vocal person in the theater after I saw "United 93"...and that didn't take much since everyone else was dead silent. I was pretty full of anger, and just spontaeneously spit out "Those lousy murdering sons of a bitches..." I guess we all have our buttons.

The Moderators delete messages that can be understood as advocating violence against people. Why? Because all sorts of people are reading Free Republic, including people who would like very much to see this forum disappear.

Yes, that is true. Many, many people would like to see illegal immigration stopped and the people housing/hiring these people fined heavily and/or punished in some form or fashion. However, that is NOT being done. The frustration mounts. Let us see where it leads us. More than likely, it is going to lead us to being killed by the people who are invading this country illegally. When that happens, NO ONE is going to tell them to stop advocating killing people. In fact, those who are trying to remove this forum would love for us to be killed. When it all happens, not one soul will care anything for any of us who stand for conservatism here.

I'm not grumbling at the mods. I am bothered by the fact that some people get upset with some things said by some posters, and they get them removed by whining and complaining. Yet they ignore others. Screw it.

No, I think it's a fair complaint. It can be said that sometimes the mods are a little too easily swayed by whiners. It can be said that sometimes we're a little too worried about "what other people will think" about posts that are simple hyperbole (rather than truly odious). Nonetheless, once that opinion is stated, there's not much else to say.

That depends on which side of the border they are trapped. I think it is up to the Mexican Government to get them out, myself....

....The problem is, that even though we are a small community, and many of us have read each other's posts often enough to know you aren't calling for the murder of people trapped in a tunnel, Free Republic IS a public place where what we say is semi-permanently recorded....

No matter how well-intentioned, that statement is the first step in a long path leading to censorship and political correctness, even if for appearances' sake. Criticize them for what they said (after all, it will be on the record), move off to another thread, whatever. But don't attempt to censor their right to say what they want, even if by reasoning with them. If what they say gets out of hand, the moderator will blast it.

So if US laws were changed to make illegal border crossing a FELONY, punishable by 10 years of uncompensated hard-labor, under conditions that assured the state would more than recoup the costs of incarceration, then you WOULD approve of that, right?

Sure. That'd be great! Is someone introducing that law?

Did you think I was pro-illegal immigration? I'm not at all. My preference would be the ejection of all illegal immigrants from this country, heavy enforcement of laws prohibiting employers from hiring illegals, and serious border control.

Don't mistake my compassion for people trapped in a tunnel for approval of illegal immigration. There's no relationship. Right now, illegal border crossing is barely a misdemeanor. Those in political power positions in this country are in favor of illegal immigration, or they'd have done something about it long ago.

It's so obvious that there is no political will among our elected representatives to do anything about this problem, that I can't believe that anyone doesn't recognize that.

Follow the money.

Don't get me wrong. I am NOT going to censor anyone. Not my job, not my right, and not my responsibility.

I am one of the most ANTI-PC people you will ever meet, I believe in Freedom of Speech.

But I also believe that with Freedom comes Responsibility.

I am trying to get people to filter themselves. Because even if a moderator gets is appropriately, it may already be out there in the world. And no matter what anyone tells you, reputation DOES count.

I can see your point too, but, to me, a board that is populated (even by hotheads) that allows all of the underwear to hang out (dissention, rebukes, persuasions, etc.) is infinitely more impressive and noteworthy in history's eyes than a bunch of censored PC-ridden crap. At least this way, you can get a sense of what everyone is really like and how they acquit themselves, and that, to me is a real reputation.
