The principal at a Fayette County middle school has banned all clothing with the confederate flag emblem...

As for Washington, he would have crushed the rebellion, just like Lincoln did.
Finally, I also know that facism is as bad as communism.

1.Truth
Two.Individualism
The Confederate flag represents neither.
Finally a great party was organized for the purpose of obtaining the administration of the Government, with the avowed object of using its power for the total exclusion of the slave States from all participation in the benefits of the public domain acquired by all the States in common, whether by conquest or purchase; of surrounding them entirely by States in which slavery should be prohibited; of thus rendering the property in slaves so insecure as to be comparatively worthless, and thereby annihilating in effect property worth thousands of millions of dollars. This party, thus organized, succeeded in the month of November last in the election of its candidate for the Presidency of the United States.

That great Party that Jeff Davis is speaking of is the Republican Party, the Party of Abe Lincoln.
As far as gun grabbing by the rebs, here's an editorial from the prob rebel Cleveland (TN) Banner of July, 19, 1861:
"A MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION-Gov. Pettus of Mississippi has issued a proclamation calling on the state and county officers to collect all the arms rifles and shotguns..."
The rebel citizenry was to be armed, the Unionists would have their arms confiscated by the rebs. It made the shakedowns a lot safer for confederate officials if the victims were unarmed.
I bet he's more comfortable than when you see Abraham Lincoln on the five dollar bill.

that must make lincoln worshipers really UNcomfortable.

Unfortunately, I don't have any Mississippi papers at home from July 1861. I do have some August 1861 issues of the Weekly Mississippian of Jackson, Mississippi. There is a letter in the August 7th issue complaining that nothing has been done to protect the state. This is the only article I saw that even addresses arms, but again it is not from July 1861.
... why is [sic] not the Militia Laws of our State executed and the Militia organized and drilled for active service? But I have failed to get any satisfactory answer; and hence I address to you this letter of enquiry [sic], hoping to hear from the seat of Government on a question of such great importance. It is evident that every fighting man in the State should be prepared to defend the country.
... Let the Militia be organized at once, armed with double-barreled shotguns charged with Minnie balls, and we will have an army equal if not superior to Lincoln's soldiers ...
I have access to a lot of old newspapers on microfilm. I'll check out the Mississippi newspapers of July the next time I go to the library. Thanks for your quote.
As I've posted to you before, I think, the Union folks in East Tennessee were quite as bad to Confederates as Confederates had been to Union folk. And the harassment of ex-Confederates continued after the war. You might check out the book Mountain Rebels about East Tennessee sometime.
Despite what you and others seem to post, one side was not all angels and the other side was not all devils.
That's true. But it works both ways. When I read Dilorenzo, Rockwell and Co. talk about Lincoln I'm not sure I'm reading about a flawed American or if I'm reading about Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot rolled into one.
The editorial is from a book I have, not a cut and paste. I'll try to get the full quote tomorrow morning and answer more fully.
BP" was ORDERED personally by HRM the king to START the BOY SCOUTS as a RESERVE of the GB military forces. The BSA Handbook (when i was a scout 5 decades ago. fwiw, i still HAVE mine, my uniform from 1960 & my OA sash.) had the WHOLE STORY!i'd guess that in these "PC times", the TRUTH isn't good enough to tell in the current Handbook. PITY!
The 1908 British Boy Scout manual is the oldest I have in my personal collection, and makes the origin and purpose of Scouting considerably clearer than Bowlderized U.S. editions.
***The South African, or Boer, War, however, altered the picture in two ways. Sudden reverses in the field meant that new drafts of manpower were required at short notice, and the establishment discovered to its shock and dismay that Britain's cities and slums were producing narrow-chested, knock-kneed, wheezing, rickety specimens. Sir Frederick Maurice wrote a treatise concluding that only two out of five recruits were physically fit for military service.***

Yeah, Lincoln was pretty bad, wasn't he? (Snork! Sorry, couldn't help it.)
Seriously, if you have a problem with something Delorenzo or Lew Rockwell, etc., say, bring it to these threads for us to analyze and comment on. Better still, post some evidence that refutes it if you can.
we have a WINNER!

Amen.
