I don't think the Chinese want the DPRK to have a nuke; I really don't. What is the advantage to the Chicoms for their whacked out, dependent neighbor to have a big bomb?
The Chinese Communist government, however evil they might be, are not ones to want an unstable neighbor with a bomb. Or at least I can't think of a reason why they'd want one.

I don't think the Chinese want the DPRK to have a nuke; I really don't. What is the advantage to the Chicoms for their whacked out, dependent neighbor to have a big bomb? I think that they laugh at our reaction but but secretly the shudder at what would happen when Kim-il starts to sell them off to terror states/groups. China has it's own rebellious populace to deal with, those who haven't reaped the benefits of the new capitalist/market philosophy the government has embraced. There are still those who feel oppressed and possibly enough to fight back with WMDs if the opportunity avails itself. We only hear a tiny bit of what's happening behind the scenes there.

China is Japan's number one trade partner, as well. I doubt China can withstand getting all of its trade accounts lessened, at the very least. I doubt any nation will cut them off completely, but they have become used to a very nice income/cash flow. Will they risk any of that for Kim?
