President Bush and Mrs. Bush joined former President George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush for the christening of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, the USS George H. W. Bush CVN 77.
Click here for a transcript of the GWBs remarks.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, General Peter Pace, Virginia Senator George Allen, Doro Bush Koch and Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Enjoy your Saturday visit to Sanity Island
It is amazing, I concur!
You're doing good to be able to write your name on an E -A- S!
;oD
now that's a cut and paste picture...NO ONE could make that picture on an etch-a-sketch!!!!!
Yes, she does look lovely in that blue jacket. It is a stunning color and suits her.
Have you noticed that she has been wearing slacks and pant suits a lot lately. I was surprised when she changed her style.
I also noticed that she is now wearing really stylish looking shoes. Remember five years ago when she usually wore plain black heels?
Love that she is versatile and tries new styles.
Nope, not fake believe it or not I've seen the guy do it on a talkshow...keyword search Etch-a-Sketch...I did.
When God gives someone a talent He really gives someone a talent...
Love the blue jacket on the First Lady
Have you fired up the new cooker? If so, what were the results?
Or maybe the Bush family did not want it either.
That is a lovely photo

Re:E-A-S Artist.
Otherwise, there is school and the life of a domestic goddess.
How are you?
While this is a tough election cycle to be sure (midterms are always tough -- Reagan lost BOTH of his BADLY), it is certainly NOT as horrible as the Democrats and their MSM handlers would have us believe:
REALITY CHECK By Mark Noonan
Yesterday, President Bush spoke at the christening of the USS George H. W. Bush, the US Navy's newest aircraft carrier - here is part of what he said:
"The George H. W. Bush will serve as a new generation of Americans every bit as brave and selfless as those who have come before them. The 21st century -- in the 21st century, freedom is again under attack, and young Americans are volunteering to answer the call. In the years since September the 11th, 2001, more than 1.6 million Americans have volunteered to wear the uniform of the United States. Today they serve in distant lands and on far seas -- from the islands of Southeast Asia, to the Horn of Africa, to the mountains of Afghanistan and in Iraq. And once again, with perseverance, and courage, and confidence in the power of freedom, a new generation of Americans will leave a more hopeful and peaceful world for generations to come."
Those who have been reading this blog since the 2004 election know that my constant refrain was, "pay more attention to what people do, rather than what they say". One of the things people have been doing, as noted by the President, is joining the military. 1.6 million volunteers since 9/11 - people who volunteered when they knew they would certainly be going in harms way at some point. And this past fiscal year, which ended September 30th, the military had its best recruitment year in a decade.
For an unpopular war, that is astounding - for an unpopular war during booming economic times, that is impossible.

2.) VOTERS LIKE PRESIDENT BUSH
Despite bogus MSM polls to the contrary (ESPECIALLY Newsweek), the new Battleground Poll has confirmed AGAIN that American VOTERS approve of GWB as a person . . . And this has and will continue to make ALL the difference (as I indicated in 2004)!
BATTLEGROUND POLL:
JOB APPROVAL
45% approve
52% disapprve
LIKABILITY/PERSONAL APPROVAL
"Whether you approve of the way George W Bush is handling his job as President, what is your impression of George W Bush as a person? Do you approve or disapprove of him?"
61% approve (41% strongly)
32% disapprove (25% strongly)
http://www.tarrance.com/10862Q.pdf
It's this PERSONAL approval of the President that explains why the number of protesters at his events are ALWAYS dwarfed by the number of his supporters (whether the MSM choses to report this or not) and why anti-Bush/anti-war/anti-American 'mass' protests like those planned this weekend ALWAYS fizzle!!!
BOTTOM LINE: Ignore the MSM polls -- they're actively attempting both to advance Democrat talking points and suppress Republican turnout. Instead, volunteer for GOTV efforts and REMEMBER: The majority of the voters in this country like our president ALMOST as much as we do!!!

'I CHRISTEN THEE'
The last Nimitz-class aircraft carrier receives the traditional splash and spray at the Newport News shipyard.
By Peter Dujardin
October 8, 2006
NEWPORT NEWS -- With two presidents - her father and brother - beside her, Dorothy Bush Koch christened the last Nimitz-class aircraft carrier Saturday with a single swing of a bottle of sparkling wine.
"I christen thee United States Ship George H.W. Bush," Bush Koch said before she cracked the bottle against a metal support on the ship's bow in a Northrop Grumman Newport News dry dock just after a shipyard siren sounded at 11:15 a.m. "May God bless all who sail her."
