Three More Former Pages Accuse Foley of Online Sexual Approaches
ABC News Blog ^

Posted on 10/05/2006 2:45:06 PM PDT by mmyers

Three more former congressional pages have come forward to reveal what they call "sexual approaches" over the Internet from former Congressman Mark Foley.

The pages served in the classes of 1998, 2000 and 2002. They independently approached ABC News after the Foley resignation through the Brian Ross & the Investigative Team's tip line on ABCNews.com. None wanted their names used because of the sensitive nature of the communications.

"I was seventeen years old and just returned to [my home state] when Foley began to e-mail me, asking if I had ever seen my page roommates naked and how big their penises were," said the page in the 2002 class.

The former page also said Foley told him that if he happened to be in Washington, D.C., he could stay at Foley's home if he "would engage in oral sex" with Foley.

THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS READER DISCRETION STRONGLY ADVISED: Foley's Exchange with Underage Page Foley Instant Message Chat While Waiting for a House Vote Click Here to Watch This Week's Brian Ross Investigates Webcast The page told ABC News he was interviewed this week by FBI agents who had a six-page list of questions about Foley and the exchanges.

The second page who talked with ABC News, a graduate of the 2000 page class, says Foley actually visited the old page dorm and offered rides to events in his BMW.

"His e-mails developed into sexually explicit conversations, and he asked me for photographs of my erect penis," the former page said.

The page said Foley maintained e-mail contact with him even after he started college and arranged a sexual liaison after the page had turned 18.

The third page interviewed by ABC News, a graduate of the 1998 page class, said Foley's instant messages began while he was a senior in high school.

"Foley would say he was sitting in his boxers and ask what I was wearing," the page said.

"It became more weird, and I stopped responding," the page said.

All three pages described similar instant message and e-mail patterns, with remarkably similar escalations of provocative questions.

"He didn't want to talk about politics," the page said. "He wanted to talk about sex or my penis," the page said.

The three new verbal accounts are in addition to two sets of sexually explicit instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

An online story on the Drudge Report Thursday claimed one set of the sexually explicit instant messages obtained by ABC News was part of a "prank" on the part of the former page, who reportedly says he goaded the congressman into writing the messages.

"This was no prank," said one of the three former pages who talked to ABC News today about his experience with the congressman.

I think they will be interviewed by the FBI.

And every GOP Congressman, Senator, and staffer who said to himself, "Well, it's their lifestyle choice, so what do I care?" is going to get outed as an enabler, even if they had no direct knowledge of any illegal or unethical conduct on the part of the gay colleague.

So every Congressman, Senator or staffer who is gay has been involved in illegal or unethical conduct?

I agree that the terrorist threats are more important, but this plays into it in a round-about way.

This exposes the MSM and left as liars. The more often they are caught lying or twisting the truth to promote their own political agenda, the less often John Q. Public will believe what they have to say.

Overall this whole scandal appears to be about the lying, sneaky MSM and left, and that's a good thing IMO.

I do agree that this whole mess ranks way down on the list of most pressing issues for our country though.

Somebody TELL ME HOW OLD THE INSTANT MESSAGE SYSTEM IS?

Was this AOL or ICQ?

Seems the tech was NOT there in 1997.

Are we talking evidence of the promise of a book deal?

Maybe a hefty 'monetary reward' from the DNC?

___
...so what do these poor victims have to gain by coming forward now?

As long as they insist on anonymity, they're hardly "coming forward."

Yeah!

Peter Jennings did the same thing to me 50 years ago. Too bad he's dead now and can't be slandered.

He approached me, too. Yeah, that's it. That's the ticket.

Actually, I spoke to one former (male) page who said that Brian Ross had sex with him in the back seat of Ross' car in New York City when the page was 17, but he really didn't want his name used, so I can't tell it to you. But trust me, I wouldn't say such a thing on the Internet unless it were completely, 100% true...

I was there, too. I saw the whole thing.

Funny thing is that I don't think that Foley will ever get to face his accusers. Personally, I don't believe there are any.

Except that the parents of one of the boys put out a statement today saying (more or less) that they wish everyone would leave them alone. I've been looking & looking & can't find a link. Saw it on TV.

Of course not...only the ones with R's next to their names.

Was this AOL or ICQ?

The IM system that Jordan Edmund used was AOL's aka AIM (AOL Instant Messaging).

The guy was a predator - one who knew exactly where the legal lines were drawn.

Actually, not a predator if he didn't break the law. Maybe disgusting to most people, primarily because he was more than twice his partner's age. But not a predator, a term that requires a victim or prey.

If you don't like the laws, change them. In fact, please do. Until then, this Jordan episode is consenting cybersex conducted between two adults. There was no victim, given what we now know.

Oh? Which parents (assuming they actually exist apart from Brian Ross' fantasies)?

No proof. All anonymous accusations. If these 'victims' spurned or ignored the congress-pervs unwanted advances, then why are they hiding? Why should we find them credible when they demand to make anonymous accusations like informers for the old Soviet state?

What happened to the presumption of innocence? The right to face your accusers before a jury of peers?

This hit-piece on the GOP can't even rise to the dignity of a kangaroo court.

Given how many lies and partial truths that ABC's Ross has put out already, there is no reason to believe anything he is printing without proof.

You said -- "We now KNOW that he was engaged in simulated sex with a consenting MALE ADULT on a government computer."

Well now..., I read all the time (in the newspaper) that pedophiles communicate with "Adult Male Policemen" (pretending to be underage girls or boys) and these pedophiles get arrested and convicted in court.

The defense of -- "Well, he *is* [or was] and *adult male*!!" -- *never works*.

They are *convicted* nonetheless.

You said -- "That story sounded awfully fishy to me. Is it as fishy as I think?"

No, it's not fishy -- in the "IM world" -- not at all. I guess you have to have been enmeshed in the IM world to know that. At one time I was connected to some teens (relatives) and communicating with them, and found out about a lot of the tricks of IM (from having them played on me, you see...).

People spoof others, some will not identify themselves, or switch back and forth between different accounts (or the same computer having different accounts going at the same time), and/or switch people (two people -- each take on the other's "personna") -- you name it. Nothing is "real" in the IM world. It's absolutely crazy (especially with youngsters).

And, no, you don't have to get permission to receive IM's -- unless you want to set it up that way. You can get IMs from anyone, if you want to. And a lot of times, people will "talk along" with someone they *absoultely don't know* -- just to try to figure out "where they're coming from".

Or, they might think they are being "spoofed" -- so they'll play along with the spoof -- becoming just as outrageous as the other side, until they figure out where it's going.

SO..., *no* -- this is not unusualy. It's only unusual if you're normal thinking adult. But, we're not talking about adults here; we're talking about high-school kids.

Star Traveler

You said -- "Despite how sleazy Foley was in making these kinds of communications, no one has yet to allege he laid a finger on anyone."

Pedophies on the Internet are convicted just for their communications, *wthout* laying a hand on any of their "victims" -- because many of their "victims" are older *adult male cops* and not 13-year olds or 17-year olds.

Those pedophiles are convicted *not* on the basis of the age of the person on the other side -- but on the basis of whom the pedophile *thought* he was communicating to.

Star Traveler
