Tell you the truth, after I heard about that "prank"...read setup...I kind of feel sorry for Foley. Although I'll allow that there's much more about Foley that I likely don't know. But give the hysteria time to die down, and let there be no more revelations about Foley, and I think the GOP could play up this angle.
Poor guy got duped then lost his seat in congress. All at the expense of a couple of yuk-yuks taking advantage of a demented and sexually frustrated soul. The Dems would pick up this spin in a minute.
I am glad you are feeling that way too. Rush said today, imagine how Foley must feel? He is probably suicidal. He has had a brilliant political career, but like all of us he had his demons.
Unless I hear of him actually having sex with an underage page, I give him the benefit of the doubt. I work in psychology and I know what happens to people when they are molested as children.

Do you feel sorry for the predators who get baited by those Dateline specials? I sure don't. I don't watch Reality TV, but if they made a show about arresting pedophiles and scaring the ever-loving crap out of them, you betcha I'd watch it.
One of my best friends almost became a Congressional Page. I know how I would feel if I ever found out that a 52-year old congressman hit on her like that.
As far as I'm concerned, throw him in jail and never let him out.
