If this was just a prank, then why the heck would Foley have resigned immediately? Doesn't add up.

I'm not sure, but my guess would be that the "prank" was played on Foley himself. He probably engaged in the IM's thinking they were legit and the pages were just yankin' his chain.

That's exactly what happened. This is big, but not nearly as big as some on here are acting. Foley thought it was real.

Do you think it was some kind of set up and now the pages, in fear, are playing the "it's just a prank" defense? Maybe it was something more sinister, and the prank claim is to protect themselves. Guess I need to be fitted for my tinfoil hat...

Could be. But someone signed on as Maf54 a couple of days ago and Foley's been in rehab. I'm not sure he'd have computer access given the circumstances.

I think you've nailed it..... If the latest on Drudge proves correct (who knows??), Edmund may have been just yanking Foley's chain to get him to type embarrassing stuff..... though that's not exactly a "prank" in my definition if Foley was actually writing the IMs and actually thought he was corresponding with another gay man then the IMs are "real" and not made up by Edmund and pals, though apparently Edmund may not have had any homosexual intent, just a cruel way to toy with Foley.....

Don't know if this has been posted again but it bears repeating because it explains why Foley won't be exonerated.
