According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

What he did was repulsive. He resigned in disgrace. But, he is also a human being. That's all I am saying.
Regardless..Foley was DUMB to have fallen for it....irresponsible and undisciplined. I fault him for that.
But the idea of some (conservative) kid baiting him that way...is just infuriating.
i think foley resigned mostly because of others telling him that his homosexuality hurting the party. I do not care if he is gay myself, but it was to become a shadow over him.

It doesn't really matter to me. I don't view this as a criminal case. I view it as a moral case. Foley was immoral. Hastert was wrong in not doing anything about it.

This is the link to Edmund's MySpace page. Read his profile... he calls himself an "insensitvie a$$hole". How true. I wonder how long he'll keep that up online. I don't know how to grab a snapshot of it, but someone should.

There was ongoing murmors among the pages that labeled Foley as a closet homo who was overly friendly with pages.
The prank was on Foley and Foley took part of the supposed real IM chat. Hence his problem is still there, a closet homo with an affinity with younguns.
The problem is now there is a little issue with who had these IMs, when were the IM obtained and what type of lawsuits will this lead to if the Jordan character is indeed the conservative prankster.... Tune in.
Another thought: Was Jordan having to prove he truly belonged to the Democrat Gang?
My prayers for Congressman Foley, and yes, Jordan, too: Ya got used by some plug-ugly creeps.
