According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

have you watched the Bill O'Rielly interview with Vivyan? He said he started getting the IM's back in the SUMMER of 1997. If AOL IM just came out in May of 97, Foley and Vivyan Must have been right on the cutting edge of IM's.

He sat there and said [paraphrasing] that even after the IMs from Foley turned sexual, he still kept in touch with Foley because he was interested in building relationships in order to further his career and he added...as any young ambitious person does.
Not only the words he said, made me go, "WHAT?!?!?"...but, also his entire demeandor.
I know I wouldn't trust him to tell me that an orange was orange, I'd say, "Sorry, I need to check a color chart to verify that."
He resigned because of the IMs.
What he said in those was real.
That still only makes it a few months old, this is still too much of a coincidence.
Foley's IMs were real.
Not just any show tunes, but Ethel Merman records.
The police who entrap pedos in chat rooms are of legal age as well.
Doesn't matter, it only matters how old the perp THINKS the target is.

That's for sure. Another thing...why would a Republican, albeit a not totally Conservative one, hit on someone he would surely know could cause confidentiality problems because he was a Democrat?
