CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.

The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.

The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.

The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

No one is saying Foley is off the hook. The issue is how the emails and IMs got from the interns to Mike Rogers, stopsexualpredators, CREW and ABC.

"Not all gay republicans are out to get us."

I agree with the rest of your post, although I'm not sure where the above came from. I never said gay Republicans are out to get us.

WAS there even instant messaging in 1997?

Instant messaging began in the mid-1990s with Dulles, Va.-based AOL allowing online users to communicate faster than through e-mail.

I think you have completely misread what is going on here.

Pointing out the legality, or should I say lack of illegality of the events has absolutely nothing to do with condoning or excusing the disgusting, unethical and immoral behavior of Foley. It has only to do with exposing the disgusting, unethical behavior of the RATS.

NO one has done excused any behavior of Foley's nor overlooked it. In spite of the cries of some people that it has been done, there is no evidence to support any overlooking of Foley's culpability.

I have read most of these threads, but if you can point to a single post where this 'short sighted' behavior you are referring to actually occurred, I would appreciate it.

If you can't do that, stop claiming that it has.

He posted on a flight attendant message board in 2001.

Aren't many male flight attendants (but not all) gay? I wonder if Foley has an advanced "gay-dar" and picks up on which pages are which? And now some of those pages, angry with Foley because of his refusal to endorse same sex marriage, have determined to set him up and bring him and the party down.

"I am now watching Iron Chef, and the secret ingredient is SQUID. Fox needs to know I would rather watch people cooking squid (ugh) than their lame news propaganda."

We did the same thing. My wife asked, "Are you sure that you don't want to watch Fox News on this scandal?"

I told her no, that Fox is now no different from ABCNNBCBS.

6 years ago, I lead a small revolt out here with other conservatives. We cancelled our cable because they didn't carry Fox News and signed up for Dish because they did.

I can live the rest of my life without liberal bias/lies like this vile story from Fox News or ABCNNBCBS.

Since its May 1997 debut as a free feature on AOL, instant messaging has caught on like wildfire. And if it began as a killer app for chatty teens, professionals were soon downloading it, too, not only for office gossip but also for use in legitimate business communications. The Yankee Group estimates that 65 million people worldwide now use IM for business; it expects that number to reach 330 million worldwide by the end of 2005

Instant Messaging: IM Here to Stay

"
If things pan out that this was truly a prank, the kid will never have a political career but will stand to make a bundle in an upcoming movie, 'Jackass II'."

Thanks for the best laugh of this morning. This maggot could be the lead Jackass in a tv mini series of Queer Jackasses.

The Fox show, Journal Editorial Report, has the best headline for this entire event. Not Foleygate. Not some other old cliche for a Washington scandal. Nope, this event will forever be known as:

La Cage aux Foley

Good synopsis, Miss Marple. Thanks.

(I especially liked this part......."but Fox reported this information in their headlong rush towards losing viewers." That IS what they are doing, isn't it?)
