According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

It was a known fact Foley is a homosexual. He had NO BUSINESS being Chairman of that committee to protect exploited children.
I'm with you. While some of this is believable, there is much much more to this story. Obviously the Dems feel the heat of "uncovering" every homosexual and pedophile in D.C., and are not looking for an out.

He is a REPUBLICAN....GOP party doesn't have to do anything wrong to be "wrong".
The committee he worked on...and the e-mails that we are pretty sure he sent...
OR maybe he was being threatened..or blackmailed some other way.

Apologize????!!!! Heck, the Dems still firmly believe that Bush personally ordered the super-top-secret Plame be "outed" in revenge for Joe Wilson's "sincere" criticism of the "failed Bush policies".
Get a grip. Democrats don't apologize, and certainly won't back off from their cry of "Culture of Corruption". I just wish the Republicans would some day start coming out with a forceful and united response to them.

It seems these guys likely baited Foley, knowing his proclivities, with the IM's as a prank. Very believable for young heterosexual guys. Foley likely resigned because he may not really have known he was being yanked. It is clear there was more than one former page involved because as the IM's got into more hands, they somehow ended up in the hands of the other camp and were sent to ABC. Perhaps this is where Matthew comes in..???.. Perhaps Mathew conscientiously objected to baiting Foley? We'll know shortly I am sure.
I bet none of them are from Drudge... ABC got SPANKED!
