In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a Wisconsin state legislator said he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.

Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Bellevue, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.

"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said.

"Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."

Lasee stressed that the measure would hinge on school staff members getting strict training on the use of the weapons.

Today, our school was closed because one of the janitors found a "threatening note". Talk about scaring the shitte out of us. If arming our teachers is what it takes to get this under control, so be it.

I don't know - there's alot of crazy teachers too.
The sex abuse crisis in the schools is much worse than it ever was in the catholic church...do we want to read about kids getting coerced into sex at gunpoint?

Besides - a majority of teachers are lefties...the sight of a gun frightens them. I don't want them trying to handle guns around my kids. I'm guessing my kids would do a better job in that regard.

Most classes have at least one teacher per room, the teachers would be qualified, and the waco's should no longer know which classes are safe to attack.

Currently schools are THE safest place to attack, it's "the law" that everyone there must remain defenseless!

Many of them are, which actually increases YOUR safety, particularly if some creep tries something while you are in the armed citizens presence.

I'm not aware of a company that donates it's metal detectors to government schools. Nor am I aware of a cadre of security guards who feel the necessity to donate their services free of charge. So all of these things come with a significant cost attached to them.

Given that many if not most government schools have implemented security measure such as those you suggest (and then some), I think it reasonable to consider whether they've been all that effective. I would argue that they're little more than expensive feel-good measures that have accomplished little. I seriously doubt that an evil individual who is bent on committing mass murder is going to be deterred by a security guard with a metal detector.
