Maybe not.
Jones is an eccentric breed of lawyer for Oklahoma.
He made his $$$ doing oil and gas legal work.
And every once in awhile, he'll take on some pro bono work...
and he sure looks out of place as the slow-talking, conservative white
guy for some really dislikeable characters (like McVey).
Jones says he does it because he truly believes lawyers should take on
this sort of work at least occassionally to help the justice system.
Myself, I suspect he must get bored with just doing lucrative, but
standardized legal work in the oil patch and likes a little change of pace.

'big time' defense lawyers in Enid, OK don't cost as much as a rookie lawyer in D.C. You can get pretty far with $5000 to $10000 as long as you don't have to face charges.
