New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

Are you asking GraniteState if he's ever been in rehab?!?

In any case, the answer is NO. Rehab is for quitters.

These were IMs and E-Mails with no actual visual porn that we know of so far. Since a minor can not legally enter into a binding contract, who paid for the kid's service provider and doesn't that make them partially responsible for of the on-line conduct?

This does not give the year but it is entirely possible that this was 2003 and if Foley was using the government server to do his Internet chats somebody was monitoring him.

So somebody knowing Foley personally could have known how to set him up to capture his messaging using government servers capturing his messaging while in the process of voting.

I am NOT in anyway suggesting Foley did not send the IM's, he resigned so that indicates he did something that required his resignation.

"Ross posts the emails on his web site and he starts getting IMs (so he says)."

Now wait a second. Rush was reading a New York times story earlier today that says that Brian Ross says that he got the emails in August and didn't get around to the story because he was too busy reporting on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Now, I don't think that fits the timeline.

I thought this was a conservative board.

I can't believe I am being called a prude for my reaction to this.

I'm 30 and now I really understand how older generations must feel.

I am shocked.

sorry I didn't know the exact law, thanks for clearing it up.

I guess we should all rally 'round the pedophile on the White House lawn and hold hands because technically no laws were broken...

We have become our enemies....sad, sad, sick disgrace...
Good luck on turning attention to Pelosi's enabling

I'll meet you all in the minority caucus

Instead of asking for Hastert's resignation, the editorial of Blankley's paper should be, "Who the hell had evidence of his perversion and suppressed it until October?!"

More like, who suppressed it for 3 1/2 yrs.!

Stifle it. No one is rallying around the pedophile. First of all, Foley isn't a pedophile, but someone who likes older teens. Check your dictionary.

And no one is rallying around Foley. What we DO want to know is whether we could have had him resign 3 years ago, but someone from the Rat media kept the information from us.

This is exactly what I am talking about...We have become the Party of Clinton, but with lower taxes...

"Define IS"..

"Define Pedophile"
Well, I'm no shrink but a 50 year old man who likes 16 year old boys might have some issues...

Yes, blame the media, musta been Brian Ross IM's going to teen boys.
Blame the DNC, they musta slipped Foley a mickey for the last several years.
Also, be sure to mention the difference between the IM's and emails, because most voters follow the details like freepers and most voters would see nothing wrong with a 50 year old man asking for a picture of their son/daughter over the email...sure, why not run that argument?

Hope the kool aid was good.

Enjoy the kneepads, they're starting to fit well..

The technical term is ephebophile, or pederast ....

or you could just stick with pervert.

You know, you are simply misfiring on all cylinders. Foley's e-mails were already looked at by the FBI, who found nothing in them to warrant investigation. It was the IM's, which only surfaced on Friday, which were salacious.

I see no reason to fault Hastert for not having ESP.

I'm bumping your comment, because the media have done an excellent job of confusing the e-mail asking for a picture (the e-mail known to the Republican leadership) and the IMs containing lurid conversations (the instant messages revealed the day Foley resigned).

Even my wife, a college educated intelligent woman, thought that the Republicans knew about the the lurid IMs, after watching the local news.

That's why I came to Free Republic today to get my facts straight in a few minutes, because both the local media (here in Palm Beach county) and the national media are having a field day painting Republicans as pedophile protectors.

What I find weird is the number of Freepers who don't get it, despite informative posts like yours.

"Has there even been a crime? What crime are they investigating?"

I dunno.... After years of rumor and speculation I'm sure no one was surprised to learn that Foley is gay. Its all extremely lurid and sordid but so far it looks as if this is all about "porn-talkin".

I guess we should all rally 'round the pedophile on the White House lawn and hold hands because technically no laws were broken...

No one is suggesting that. The right is unanimous in calling Foley an idiot and gross pig.

My point was simply that you were wrong about what is illegal.

My own solution (which I have posted elsewhere) would be to focus on the "normalizing of perversion". This clearly differentiates from the Clintonites and makes some good come out of this affair.

1. Change the age of consent in DC to 18. The Congress makes the laws for DC. (lets see how the Dems vote on that)

2. Pass a law that allows organizations that have custody of chidren to exclude homosexuals without fear of lawsuit. Make this law off limits to any court interference. (Bring Our Young Schoolkids Completely Out from Under Totalitarian Sexuality) BOY SCOUTS bill.

3. Revoke the pension of Foley, Studds and other pervert congressmen and women.

4. Other stuff to shore up traditional morality.

You say: We have become our enemies....sad, sad, sick disgrace... No, we have not. The predator is gone. No one is supporting him, calling him a hero, or claiming he saved the Constitution.

The difference between Dem indifference to Monica and the R response to this could not be more stark.

Monica was under the desk when Bill was discussing sending troops to foreign soil, I think.

Who cares?

I'm not worried
I have more faith in the American voter than that.
I was making the point that its business as usual with the no agenda sleaze in the Democrat party & their willing accomplices in the media
