New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM
Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

I agree...I think they had planned to release this later, but things were looking increasingly gloomy for them, so they pulled the trigger to try to put a stop to the slide.
That was idle speculation, but based on very real past experience with the Rat party.
In particular, even if Hastert could take action on Foley's house.gov traffic, he'd have to get law enforcement to deal with personal email.
How do we know that these IM transcripts are authentic?
Could the radical Gay Dems be doctoring these to make this whole brouhahahahaha worse than it already is for the GOP?
Here is a classic post that I will repeat:
Gay Blogger behind the Foley Take Down opposed the politics of Mark Foley. (And, now running for cover?)
Michael Rogers is angry with Closet Gays or is seeking to attack Republicans who oppose the radical Gay agenda?
Michael Rogers and what were his motives?
Righteous? Hell no, just a Political assassin?
Political revenge because Foley wouldn't tow the radical Gay agenda?

Mac Rangers instincts were probably right about Rogers. His strategy is to out reps and cons who are secretly gay.
Quote:
I am sure its no surprise that the Washington political establishment has little interest in helping the work of blogACTIVE.com. The right wing is too busy protecting closet cases who are anti-gay and many on the left are too busy blaming our communitys desire for equality (e.g. civil marriage equality) for its losses over the past few years. Because of this, blogACTIVE.com counts on the contributions of visitors and subscribers to blogACTIVE Confidential to make this work possible. In addition to the thirty cases already reported on, my blog, I have hundreds of tips, many in the highest levels of the government.
Michael Rogers is an angry Gay Democrat who wanted to punish Foley and score Political points.
How did he get the IM evidence and when?
The FBI will find out.

Gay Intern?
So, the Democrats are not very righteous here?

And his purpose? Blackmail?
You ask a good question. And it needs to be answered. For now, I am assuming they are real. For several reasons: 1) I haven't heard Foley deny them; 2) he tried to provide cover by claiming he's an alcoholic; and 3) he immediate resigned. The charges are so disgusting that I just don't want to be in any way justifying them, even by denying that this could have happened. But your concern is still an excellent one and I hope that people who can are even now trying to prove it one way or another.
I agree. This boy was asking to be exploited by Foley. He was just so irresistable. Foley was just minding his own business when this fine piece of boyhood came into his life. Well, I blame the boy and Cupid...
Hey look,
At the time of the Clinton impeachment, I personally felt that he was not guilty of a crime and felt there was no locus standii to have him removed from office on the basis of breaking laws - he argues the perjury stuff and essentially got off on a technicality.
That said, I do feel the right and honourable thing for him to have done, and his party and the opposition should have demanded it, was for him to step down.
Any CEO who did what he did would have been nailed with an harassment suit and the shareholders would have demanded his ouster. What ticked me off is he did not have the honour to step down; and the Democrats did not see the need to honour the office by even requesting him to step down.
The office of the Presidency was forever tarnished in my opinion. At least Nixon, when he was exposed, resigned.
DemocRats, on the other hand, don't worry about privacy laws (except when terrorists are involved). Just ask Newt Gingrich.
Well, I got the R right anyways. Reynolds is taking a big hit up here in NY. He's the best around. He'll get MORE votes because of this.
1) You can set Instant Messaging software to save IMs indefinitely, AOL has a 14-day default, but Trillian and other programs save them forever unless you turn off the feature.
2) The Feds will subpoena everything sent from Foley's AOL account, be it emails or instant messages....and there could be even more young men out there that havent involved themselves in this episode at this time.
Sure. Blackmail or political activism, generally. But there's a school of thought on the gay left that these are acceptable tactics against "hypocritical" politicians.
Even though Foley had a 65 ACU rating.
I wasn't condoning it. Just commenting on the legality of it.

As a routine matter I save nearly all my e-Mails.
I don't use IM's and I don't know how these were saved and additionally, how does ABC or anyone else know what the original messages were and to whom?
Foley could have IM'd an adult and now, an assertion could be made that it was really communicated to a minor?
In the end, the F.B.I. will find out the originals, but we won't know the total truth, until AFTER the elction.
Why did Monica keep her dress....unwashed...in the closet?
They got them from Mary Mapes, who found them in a file cabinet in the basement of an Air National Guard unit in Texas.
Mark Foley is the pubby version of the RATS Bubba Clintoon.
But the suggestion was that some disgruntled former Dem Alexander staffer (he was a party-switcher -- political party, sheesh) got the info from a current staffer.
