New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM
Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

The exchange continues in which Foley and the teen both appear to describe having sexual orgasms.

The House voted that evening on HR 1559, Emergency War Time supplemental appropriations.
According to another message, Foley also invites the teen and a friend to come to his house near Capitol Hill so they can drink alcohol.

LOL, no doubt if the Democrats don't win the House, it will have been Karl Rove plot. But really, I don't see this affecting other elections. It is still possible that we retain Foley's seat. (bad choice of words.)
I think I'm seeing our own "White House Lawn cheering section" in action....
Where's the Congressional Black Caucus when ya really need 'em?
Somebody was working overtime to get all these IM's and emails. hmmmmm
Ah, so being gay warranted a criminal probe? (And I emphasize the "criminal")
I don't think Hastert has the right to seize a Member's computer or demand anything Congresscritters are above that sort of thing, ask William Jefferson.
From the Washington Post;
" Foley's Seat Cracks Top 25"
"Seat cracks!"
I totally agree with you.
Now what?
No way! Someone lifted these off a server or made them up entirely. Smells just like a rat to me.
Foley's resignation indicates there is some validity to them. Whether they have been doctored a bit, we have no way of knowing.
YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! They think that all GOP congresscritters are pedofiles and that the GOP will fall like a ton of bricks. They are happy as pigs!
Most of us don't disagree with you. I agree that Foley probably belongs in jail. But I really dislike the hypocrisy that dems can do this and Republicans are treated like this in the media. There is a major public problem that goes a long way beyond what Foley did. I think he's a cretan. And I think Clinton was too.
The headline editor is obviously a wise guy.
Good or bad story for the GOP?
"This reminds me of Reynolds(?) pulling some letter out of the Senate Vault that he wrote to Cheney YEARS before."
That was Rockefeller who had a handwritten CYA letter to Cheney stashed in his safe expressing his concern about one of the intelligence programs....terrorist surveillance, I think.
I don't think it will be forgotten and I think it could cost us the Hill. But I don't think that will necessarily happen. And I think that if the Republicans are smart and show how the Dems are orchestrating this latest series of smears, it could turn in our favor. Yes, this was released sooner than planned.
true, I am probably too pessimistic, but I usually am during the weeks before an election. I'm just so used to this stuff...you'd think I wouldn't even notice it. What gets me is the non-political types. If I were Joe Sixpack I'd be seeing this and saying "WTF?"
I'll still go vote just to keep 'em honest
But sometime my luck will run out and the doom I forsee will come to fruition.
I didn't see that one. I'm a popular guy.
Actually, my setting on YahooIM is "Yes, save all of my messages, but clear them each time I sign out."
That must be the default, because I don't recall changing it.
And if it is the default, it would have wiped out all old messages from previous versions -- of which there have been many since 2003.
Unless other IM services are different, this would bolster the idea that the cyberlover of Foley was purposefully saving these IMs.
I don't have an answer as to now what. I personally wish that all of these types would be sent to prison and chemically castrated permanently.
Between this and the shootingin Pennsylvania, I'm getting sick and tired of wackos being caught or killing people and being let go or "monitored" I say we start a Free Republic petition to chemically and permanently castrate ALL proven sex offenders since they are sick people who cannot be rehabilited by going to prison. This policy would solve the problem immediately and they would never reoffend again.
They lose their rights when the violently or lasciviously destroy the worlds of the young.
good question, I chat with a bunch of lunatics in yahoo and they screen save and alter it all the time.
