"Acid attack man sentenced to jail"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A man who threw acid in the faces of two police officers has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Amir Abdul-Latif, 21, sprayed sulphuric acid on the officers as they tried to arrest him outside Earlsfield station, in south London, for breaching bail.

The Kingston Crown Court convicted Abdul-Latif on two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He had pleaded guilty to the charges. Both officers have returned to work, but are yet to resume full duties."

Feds Charge Wis. Man in Stadium Threat

Federal authorities Friday charged a Wisconsin man in a hoax threat that warned seven football stadiums across the nation would be targeted by terrorists with radiological "dirty bombs" this weekend. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark did not immediately identify the man but said in a news release announcing the charge that he would be in court in Milwaukee later Friday.

One of the stadiums allegedly targeted was Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The FBI determined the threats were a hoax on Thursday.

A joint statement from the FBI and Homeland Security Department said fans "should be reassured of their security as they continue to attend sporting events this weekend."

An FBI official in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is still under investigation, told The Associated Press that the Milwaukee man acknowledged posting the phony stadium threat as part of a "writing duel" with a man from the Brownsville, Texas, area to see who could post the scariest threat.

"Muslim Student Groups Praise Authorities For Handling Of Koran Incidents"
October 19, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Representatives of city Muslim organizations gathered Thursday to condemn two possible anti-Muslim bias crimes at Pace University. But as Criminal Justice Reporter Solana Pyne explains in the following report, the groups are impressed with authorities for the way they're investigating the incidents.

In the space of a month there have been two separate incidents where a Koran, the Muslim holy book, was found in a Pace University toilet. The most recent was found just last Friday.

"This is no different from placing a burning cross in front of a house or painting a swastika on a locker," said Aliya Latif of the Muslim-American Lawyers Association."
