Great to see you back up here and functioning well. I had to make the radiation decision in 1985, but it was going through my abdominal area. Lots of barfing. Increased risk of cancer caused by the radiation treatment. Like you, I took that risk and won.

If the cytology report confirms the lesion was the same cell type as the lung cancer, there is a good chance the chemo will work again. The downside risk is whether the chemo can achieve satisfactory concentration levels in the brain vs your previous situation in the lungs. Run that question by your doctor. Good luck!

P.S. You may know already that I've been diagnosed with lung cancer for the second time also. I am currently undergoing treatment in a clinical trial. I agree that radiation mostly does more harm than good, as it kills the tissues around the target site.

But even regular chemo can cause a condition known as "chemo brain" which is neurocognitive dysfunction. I pray that you find peace and comfort, whatever your decision. God bless--

Our continued prayers are with you in this time of decision. Get that second, or even a third opinion, from someone you trust, about chemo versus radiation. They can do incredible things with chemo now that they couldn't do before.
