Yeah, our pervs and crooks usually resign pretty quickly. Any arm twisting from the party leadership goes on behind closed doors, because it seems I usually hear about the scandal and resignation in pretty quick succession. Their pervs and crooks, if they resign at all, have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of office, and usually only after they have a sure-fire indictment and likely conviction with prison time staring them in the face (like NC's Rep. Ballance, for instance).

I'm not sure it's 100%. Clearly the vast majority of pedophiles are homosexuals, and the number of homosexuals that are pedophiles is rather significant (see also Catholic Church abuse scandals). This is the 800 lb. Gorilla in the pink tutu in the living room that will be totally ignored by the media. The other big issue that will receive no play is who developed this story? from what sources?, and how long did they keep it under their hats (just to knock off a Republican with a strategically timed release/threat)?
My best guess is that there is some gay organization behind the revelation of the story and its timing. And if it could be shown that they sat on the story for the beneficial effect it would have on Democrats, then it would be clear that they tolerated the risk of a fellow with an immoral interest in children just to further their political objectives...

To be more precise, they all go for teens. Only a few go for pre-adolescent children. The spin on the Roman Catholic scandal was "pedophile" when in fact almost all of them were after adolescents. A few were after young teen girls.
