Cragg, 67, who lives in Fairfax County, said on Wednesday that Webb described taking drives through the black neighborhood of Watts, where he and members of his ROTC unit used racial epithets and pointed fake guns at blacks to scare them.

I can't prove it, so I'm not going to share it.......LOL.
Besides, since the Rather thing, I get email like that all the time, and lots of times I think people have keyed on me to get their nasty gossip out onto FR.
So, you admit you are bigoted against us young uns. :)
You are absolutely right. The Webb campaign tried to smear Allen on racial issues by digging into his past, but that invited other people to look into Webb's past too. The Webb people overreached, and now it's biting them in the butt. Even liberal newspapers like the Post can't resist a colorful story like this.
I have not been following this closely......my first thought was that this guy must be a republican......but gees, this is Allen's opponent......and I thought the Pirro/cuomo race had heated up........
The dems have no plan, no platform.......just the race card...looks like it has backfired. Good.
I know it all too well. If you dare criticize the Catholic church for their cover up of molesting priests, you are automatically branded as anti catholic.
They can call each other that if they like, low-class as it may sound to me. That still does not entitle me to do so. And I am not familiar with "Wigger", I have never heard the term.
I don't know how young you are, but from your posts I can tell that I don't know anyone quite like you in real life. :)
Check out hillary's former opponent...jeanine pirro in NY, she is running against cuomo for AG and it's all over Fox today. She apparently wanted to bug her husband's boat and tape him with another woman. They got it on tape. What next? Election day can't come soon enough.
You've got that right.
Between the Allen/Webb nonsense here in VA, and keeping up with the AG race in Delaware (Joe Biden's son is runing) the next 6 weeks are going to be loooooooooooooog ones :)
I disagree. This smacks of damage control by the Compost, in response to the bias charges levelled against them as a result of their piling on George Allen. They figure they can point to this one and say, "See, we're hitting both candidates just as hard on racial allegations, so quit your whining, GOP!", and then just let this piece on Webb quietly fade from public view with no follow-up.
Of course, they'll think they have enough cover to continue to hammer Allen without pause, by bringing up Dim activists who swear they remember playing with their GI Joe dolls with Allen when they were kids, and that he called the black GI Joes "n******s."
This is such a disgusting campaign.
Wigger is "endearing" term given to a white person who acts and speaks "black."
http://www.answers.com/topic/wigger
A Wigger (alternatives: Wigga, Whigger, Wafrican-American) is a stereotype of a Caucasian person who emulates phrases, mannerisms, and fashion commonly and stereotypically associated with Black or hip-hop cultures. The stereotype of the wigger usually involves a young Caucasian person who generally knows little about their own background, or the culture they are appropriating, with the exception of the music, style, and slang associated with that culture, attributes generally understood as not fully representing any culture.
The term is a portmanteau combining the words "white nigger", or "wannabe nigger," and is thus it has historically been used in a derogatory manner.
Interpretations of the stereotype
Many whites resent the "wiggers" for rejecting their own ethnicitys heritage and many blacks reject their attempts to become cool by attempting to adopt theirs. More often than not, wigger is a word used by both blacks and whites in conversation without offense being taken on either side. According to James Toback, the director of Black and White, the 1950s incarnation of this concept, the white Negro, rejected his or her own "white culture", whereas the contemporary wigger embodies it:
[1]
This interpretation may be strengthened by the adoption of US black culture by young British Asians, who are now often the second generation to be born in the UK and therefore somewhat distant from the culture of their migrant grandparent's original country, yet do not identify fully with 'British' culture either. As a minority group, hip-hop music and ghetto culture provide a theme to identify with, although the British Asian population has faced quite different problems than those of the black population in the United States.
However, a 2004 report produced by marketing agency TRBI in the UK argues that white youth's infatuation with black culture is a form of rebellion:
... today many mainstream adults find black music and culture inaccessible and shocking. Hip-hop culture represents a genuinely rebellious voice. [2]
Responses to the wigger stereotype vary. Some so-called wiggers are derided for being affluent white youths who "[try] a little bit too hard" [3] to adopt an identity at odds with their privileged upbringings. Others regard the merging of black culture into the mainstream of "white culture" as an inevitable consequence of the hold black music and urban culture have on popular culture in the West. [4]
Senator Robert Byrd offered the following commentary on "White Niggers" on March 4, 2001, in an interview with FOX News Sunday host Tony Snow (now White House Press Secretary). In the interview, the West Virginia senator was asked about race relations: "They are much, much better than they've ever been in my lifetime," Byrd said. "I think we talk about race too much. I think those problems are largely behind us ... I just think we talk so much about it that we help to create somewhat of an illusion. I think we try to have good will. My old mom told me, 'Robert, you can't go to heaven if you hate anybody.' We practice that. There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."[2]
Well, thanks for the information. I've absolutely never encountered that term before. I suppose "Vanilla Ice" would have been an example, back when he was briefly on the charts.
I AM looking forward to seeing Bush in full campaign mode.......(sigh).....I will miss that sight when he is gone. :^)
I even created a term myself for persian's who think they are black. They are not called PIGGERS. OINK OINK. :)
Gosh, I'll be more careful when I post.......LOL.
I am flattered, but I know what you mean; when I need facts I look for kcvl or ravingnutter and others.
I have to be gone for a couple of hours. Ping me to anything good, please!
No one must try to use Webb's use of the word "gook" as an example of his use of racial slurs. It would backfire terribly aganst Allen.
All Nam vets used it.
...In fact I predict the media will bring it up and try to blame Allen for bringing it up.
It won't work for the same reason "I didn't inhale" didn't work for most people; people who actually lived back then knew what a bogus lie that was.
