Also - the black abortion rate is nearly 40% - in some states more black babies are aborted than born. Yet - the majority of blacks think the liberals are their friends...

The worst racists are liberals. They hide their racism behind feel-good rhetoric and policies designed to prevent blacks from acquiring the habits and skills essential to a civilized existence. Despite the disaster they've inflicted upon Black America, they keep it in their thrall since they've managed to convince blacks that any one pushing non-liberal policies to help them is a racist. So the irony comes full circle: blacks are kept down by the very people who are supposed to lift them up but whose own existence would become completely irrelevant if blacks no longer had need of them.
That is why the whitey racism industry will remain alive and well. Too many liberals have an investment in making sure things never change. Even the most die-hard white racist never had that kind of power. And that's the tragedy.

Steyn: "In 2003, congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee was reduced to complaining about the racist nomenclature of hurricanes. If I recall correctly, her argument was that blacks were being discriminated against because hardly any devastatingly destructive meteorological phenomena are given African-American names."
From our history files...

Juan Williams is a certified liberal, but he's not a certifiable liberal. That's pretty much the key lens nowadays through which to evaluate individual liberals.

... Does that list really testify to the vitality of "Black English"? By comparison, India via the Raj gave English (to pluck at random) pajamas, bungalow, jodhpurs, cheroot, cummerbund, veranda, khakis, karma. Despite the best efforts of the late Tupac and the Rodney King rioters to copyright them, even "thug" and "looter" come from the subcontinent. Doesn't that list make "jiving around" and "get high" look a bit weedy? Zip, zing, zowie!

Steyn nails it, and points out that Juan Williams nails it in his book, but I say it's time for Williams and his ilk to drop the blackberry(s) and run for office and have a direct effect on those of his own race, and make changes happen!
Yes, he's liberal, but he's been around enough sensible thinking (i.e. Fox News, etc.) that he's able to recognize that Sheila Jackson Lee and Jesse and Al, are not the types to lead blacks in the right direction.

From the present wreckage, there are two ways to go: the black leadership can pursue the mirage of slavery reparations, which is a kind of über-welfare and would likely prove just as destructive; or blacks can sideline the present "phony leaders," as Williams calls them, and begin the hard work of rebuilding their families and communities.

One thing I take heart in is that Al Sharpton seems to be the youngest of the classic race hustling "community leaders" - I don't think there is anyone to replace Jackson, Mfume and Sharpton with same name recognition and credibility.
The scam is dying - but we are all left to pick up the pieces.

Most Americans looked at what was happening in New Orleans and concluded that it's a great place to enjoy a margarita with a topless transsexual Mardi Gras queen, but you wouldn't want to live there: a deeply dysfunctional city exclusively controlled by Democrats for generations, it's a welfare swamp with a lucrative tourist quarter. Not to mention a city built below sea level, sandwiched in between the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River. Just asking for disaster!
