Great clubs, but this old Navy guy will sell his or trade. This house is a "Ping Free Zone" from now on.

"It's something we put in place to protect our brand," said Bill GatesMethinks Ping has just cut their own throat.

I guess I don't need that G5 hybrid set after all. What about the discount websites that have costs 20% below street? Gonna cut them too?

"said Bill Gates, Ping's director of distribution and associate general counsel."
You can't make that stuff up...
Good for these guys (the shop owners), F Ping, and F the Narc who notified Ping.

Ping is the most redesigned club on the market. Every time they come out with a new idea, it's an admission that the last idea was wrong.
Pulling their line from a retailer that gives military discounts is their worst idea yet.

It isn't just discounts to the military. Discounts in general are forbidden, the shops in the article just happen to be offering discounts to military men. Think how many people on here would be going out and buying Ping clubs if the shops were offering discounts to gay people and Ping told them to stop.

Sounds like Ping hired or promoted a flaming lib into a position of responsibility. I wonder if the company will do anything to redress this stupidity.

Stinking jerks. Fine. I'll buy another set, and when I screw up I'll throw the pings.

Ping's next move will be to sponsor the Dixie Chicks.
To: SeeRushToldU_So
Dumbest PR move I've seen in that sport.
I hope other golf shops have the cajones to drop Ping.

It should be interesting to see if there are protest in the galleries this weekend.
The PGA should be ready for alot of signs and verbal protest.
We are now a ping free zone....My dad was going to treat himself to a set when he retired next spring, guess thats out now.

If a store buys a product, it is up to that store what they sell that product for. If there is an agreement otherwise its a pretty stupid one IMO.
If these people want to cut their own throat I suppose thats their right.
Sounds like Muhammed Bill Gates has a problem with the military.

This will cost Ping far more in the negative publicity it generates than the piddly amount they were losing in the discounts to military. And that this edict should come from someone named "Bill Gates" is really ironic!
To: SeeRushToldU_So
This is not news. Ping will cancel your account for ANY discount. There have been stories where they cancel big dollar accounts when they find out they have given $5 off a new club that somebody has hit once or twice.
It is right in their agreement, NO DISCOUNTS, NO EXCEPTIONS. Yes they are Nazi's about it, but its a free country, and they are a private company. You don't like the policy, don't buy their clubs.
