Mitt Romney lies about abortion
Red State ^
Posted on 09/27/2006 11:07:20 AM PDT by SDGOP
In his latest interview with RedState, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney responds to a question about his abortion position by saying that he's never adopted the label "pro-choice."
That's all well and good. Mitt Romney wants to be called pro-life. I'd like to be the King of all Londinium and wear a shiny hat.
But let's not kid ourselves: there is no substantive difference between the position labeled "pro-choice," declaring your support for "the right to choose." And that is something that Mitt Romney has done repeatedly over the course of his political career. To say otherwise is to tell a lie.

Make that TWO messy divorces.

Wrong, that article is pure bs about reagan. Reagan signed a law that almost ALL of us would sign. This is pure bs passed around by romney supporters. The law reagan signed, is the law most of us advocate. It allows abortion in the case of rape, incest, and "health" of the mother. Problem is back then nobody realized that the "health" loophole would be exploited as it had been. That is why today most abortion laws specificy exactly what this health exception means. Reagan admitted shortly after he realized what happened that it was a mistake and the law wasn't being used as he intended. He didnt, say in 1975, go oh crap, i want to be president, i'm pro life now. The article's a hit piece on Reagan? Interesting.
The word that comes to mind is Irony...

Find the quote where Romney says "I am pro-choice" or give up, people. Calling someone a liar by inference is dirty pool, and we are supposed to be above that.
You can disagree with, and not support Romney without calling him a liar. Try it.
I didn't call him a liar. I provided one of many quotations where he stated that he wanted to keep abortion safe and LEGAL. If you want to say he has to use the exact phrase "I am pro-choice" maybe we can at least agree that if not an outright liar, that he is a prevaricator and dissembler. I am not gonna give him an ally-ally-in-free because he hasn't used the exact phrase but substituted the definition instead.

He's the governor of Massachussetts. Calling himself 'pro-life' in that state to please a bunch of politically ignorant retards who don't even live in that state would be political suicide. I'd rather him BE pro-life and not announce it while being Governor than to announce it just to make way for a pro-abortionist. Geez. I swear that sometimes the pro-life movement is as myopic as the muslims. You'll cut your own throat on principle and gain NOTHING by doing so.

Who wrote the article?
I didn't say it was a hit piece, i'm saying that it is omitting the facts. Reagan never ran around claiming he was pro choice. He signed a law that almost all of us would sign. I'm pro life, but i'm with the 90% of people and believe in exceptions for rape, incest, and health of the mother. Like i stated, problem with the health thing, is that it was grossly exploited. Nobody knew that back then, we know that today.
There is a clear difference between reagan and romney. Reagan as soon as he saw what was being done to the bill he signed, said it was a mistake. He didn't wait till he decided he wanted the GOP nod. Romney on the other hand held his pro choice views until shortly before he started his venture for president.

In Massachusetts, Romney abdicated to Democrats.
Romney abdicated to the "Big Dig".
He is such a major-wus that when the Democrats allowed
him to take over the Big Dig recently after the roof fell down
in the tunnel killing a women, Romney actually let the perp continue
for weeks AND let the perp thereafter award himself further pensions
and perp-rewards and perp-gifts (as well as to his cronies).
America would be in big trouble with this chameleon-RINO.
Romney belongs with the DNC (functionally speaking).

What's the quota on FR . . . is it one Romney hit piece per day? Two per day? Maybe three? Sounds like a bunch of people out there are starting to sweat a Romney candidacy.
Allow me to do your work for the rest of the week:
MITT ROMNEY FARTS UNDER THE COVERS
MITT ROMNEY ONCE PULLED A ROLLING RIGHT ON RED. IN TRAFFIC!
MITT ROMNEY LIKES STRAWBERRY JELLY--NOT GRAPE--ON HIS PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICHES
MITT ROMNEY IS THE GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS--SO HE MUST BE A COMMIE
MITT ROMNEY DOESN'T HATE HOMOSEXUALS ENOUGH--HE MUST BE ONE!
MITT ROMNEY GOES TO A DIFFERENT CHURCH THAN WE DO. HE WORSHIPS SATAN!
Paid-to-post posters on FR really suck.

George Allen is one but he's embroiled in a huge media battle right now over some racial accusations. He'll have to find a way to definitively put that down.
If I were you, though, I wouldn't count out Frist. He has the base, the bankroll, and the backing.

It's not just the pro life thing, he's been socially liberal on many issues and has now decided to change his mind on those. THeres a difference between avoiding the pro life issues and declaring yourself pro choice. Romney declared himself pro choice. It's just like red state democrats on guns, some of them are for gun control but just duck the issue and never deal with it. Some on the other hand say they are pro gun. There is a clear difference.

What, is there a rumor going around that Romney actually
is gay? Otherwise, I don't see how my comment could be regarded as anything
other than an obvious joke.
As for close-sarcasm tags, I rarely use them, as I feel no obligation to hand-hold those who suffer from an irony deficiency.
