I was flipping channels the other day and came across one of those "reality" shows where they are searching for a new superstar model. One of the requirements of the competition was that the girls pose nude, a requirement that one fo the girls resisted before giving in. You could really see the coercive process going on to separate the girls from any old-fashioned inhibitions, and to reward them for doing so and ridicule/punish them for not doing so. So, in light of this, the transformation of Charlotte Church from nice girl to skank is quite understandable: it is what the industry demands and rewards.

My youngest actually thought she might like to try for a spot on America's Top Model. Nobody in our family had ever watched the show so she watched an episode with her mother. In this particular episode they were doing a nude photo shoot. One of the contestants didn't want to do the shoot. They pressured her into posing but kicked her off the show as "uncooperative." My daughter didn't finish the show and is no longer interested in ever being a model.
