What pisses me off is Allen should know better than to compare anyone to a monkey, or whatever he did. Now all these accusations at least have people thinking.
I was all for Allen '08, now I'm having to rethink. Anyone got an opinion on Mitt Romney? Surely he can't be as dumb as Allen's remark was.

Your going to believe a man that is coming out of the political closet after thirty years to do a character assasination? Why didn't this doctor speak up years ago when Allen first enetered politics?

Welcome to FreeRepublic.

I keep having to tell idiots this again and again: First, Allen didn't "call" anybody anything. He thought it was his name. The word "macaca" is Latin. Apparently "macaque" is an exceedingly obscure North African French slur. Well, that's what the Dems say and the press repeats. Some have said that in Italian, you could contrive the slur, if it exists, to be "macaco." Of course, if you decline it to the feminine (and why would you?) it would be "macaca," I suppose. If Allen was trying to slip a racial slur into his guess of the man's name, then he did it in a clever way and did it in Latin. If you have to have a bigot, have one that uses dead languages.

And I understand that "macaca" means "noble opponent" in Arameic, so who knows?

Oh, don't hit your head on the bottom of the bridge.

I like everything I know about Mitt Romney---he may emerge soon (but only if he wants to) as one of the strongest candidates. The stupid "macaca" thing was apparently just a warm up for what was later to be revealed about Alllen.Something about these charges against Allen sounds exactly believable, like the details.Seems like his accusers are only too willing to stand by their accusations. I don't think the GOP needs their own version of Robert Byrd. Goodbye, George Allen. Not interested in him anymore. Allen has already risen to the level of his incompetence, and won't go beyond.

I'm liking Romney more and more everytime I see him. One thing I think is clear that we need to make sure our nominee is an effective communicator. I love our president. I pray for him every night but he's just not that effective of a comunicator. IMHO. But I'm sure the dems will tell us that Romney once had 2 dates on the same weekend when he was single. LOL!

Anyone got an opinion on Mitt Romney?

Though it shouldn't, I think the Mormon angle will do him in. They will make him spend half of his time apologizing for long-past church doctrines, or the typical racial makeup of Mormons. They'll probably find a couple of excommunicated Mormons who will try to dish some dirt. Under ordinary circumstances, this wouldn't matter - but I think Americans are probably still a little skittish about a Mormon POTUS, and will be easily spooked.

You are not even sure what Senator Allen "did" but you allow yourself to become p'd with him. How mature of you. You are allowing attack media to sway your emotions.

You know what pisses me off is how gleeful supposed Conservatives are to repeat over and over and over a transparent Democrat Campaign smear job as fact and use it in the mistaken notion that smearing Allen now will some how help their choice for 2008.

Conservative better quit worrying about 2008 and start worrying about 2006.

PS. Mark Levin NUKED this crap in the 1st hour of his show today. These POSs are Democrats activist scum frauds.

Anyone got an opinion on Mitt Romney?

Didn't he recently sign a health care bill in his state targeting Wal-Mart to force them to provide healthcare benefits to their employees or pay the state in fines?

Yea, Romney is a real conservative type of guy........

What monkey?

The guy had a strange haircut ~ one exactly like the nutcase who shot up a bunch of people in Montreal last week.

I've heard this "deer head" story before in a joke ~ but not about Allen.I think this Shelton guy is suffering from a cognitive dissonance ~ he's heard a Foxworthy story or something like it (hundrds of thousands of references to "deer" "head" "mailbox"), and associates it all with "Republican".

As if to prove that he's mentally ill Shelton has taken this problem to a newspaper reporter rather than to a psychiatrist.

You're rethinking your opinion of him based on alleged actions when he was a kid (young man) decades ago?

I don't know a lot about Allen, but I would think that his more recent political actions would a lot more meaningful that his alleged actions from long ago that unsurprisingly get dragged out when he's running for President.

If you want a Hillary socialist health care plan then Mitt's the man. He's a little to liberal and slick for my tastes.

Romney is smooth, cool, polished, and controlled. He is the the archetypical Fortune 500 CEO.

Google "Romney" and "brainwashed" to learn a little about the history - why he is the way he is.

Good presidential candidate for '08? Verdict is still out.

This is information warfare and Allen is either up to the challenge or he is not. Whether he takes a long view or a short view, he must now cut the legs out from under this latest line of attack.

Even if he succeeds, he still does not have a guaranteed victory in the Repub primaries.

My sense is that Gingrich is the favorite, but that folks shy away from him because of his crummy divorce.

The cleanest candidate at this point appears to be Frist.

Everybody makes dumb remarks during their political career, romney isn't exempt from this. When he ran for senate somebody asked him what to do about no milk at homeless vets shelters, romney said they should learn to milk a cow. This got him ripped a new one in the media. He's made stupid comments before, the point is only allen's comments are focused on because 1) he's the only '08 contender up for relection and 2)dems want to destroy a real conservative so only a bunch of moderates are left.

One of the many ways Democrats use to steal elections--lie about the GOP nominee and call him or her a racist. That'll get the media going and the sheeple will follow.
