Ridiculous.

The sidearm has a neglible contribution to a platoon's fire power. What the DoD needs to do is come up with a real rifle and squad MG before worrying about handguns.

Those who NEED sidearms (Special Operations) are authotized to procure whatever they wish anyway.

I tend to feel the same thing, that Special Ops will decide on their own and handle their own purchasing.

My son, USAC, ditched his pistol - carried a 12GA Mossberg shotgun as backup for room cleaning duties.

The magazines are real POS for the current issue M9.

Low bid wins, the GI loses.
